North Road To Remain Closed Through April

I don't understand why the taxpayers have to pay for the extra bus - for over a year -we had to pay a MTA tax - for what - 2 trains a day? I think that the MTA should use those tax dollars to pay back the school district for the bus." Mar 28, 13 3:25 PM

Traffic Light Converted On Montauk Highway In Southampton

The light backs up traffic all the way into the Village of Southampton during afternoon rush hour, backs up traffic into Hampton Bays during morning rush hour -every time a car approaches that light on St. Andrew Road, it turns the light red on Montauk Highway. It is the most ridiculous light placement that DOT has done on the East End. Next there will be a light at every 4 way intersection down Montauk Highway. Now instead of taking an hour to drive the 7 mile trip to and from work every day - it takes an hour and a half.

New Head Of Southampton Town Public Safety Appointed, With Some Dissent

Why are we hiring all of these positions outside of the Town of Southampton? Do we not have any qualified people to do this job within our entire township? Now on top of this over inflated salary, there comes a new car to and from West Babylon to Southampton (another taxpayer's expense), gas (another taxpayers expense), insurance. Don't we already pay all of these expenses for the new Police Chief? " Aug 23, 17 3:23 PM

Southampton Town Planning Board Takes Early Look At Proposal For CVS In Hampton Bays Movie Theater Space

Please take a look at how many vacancies there are already in Hampton Bays. If UA Theaters are not renewing their lease- and you really can't force them to - do you really think it is better that we have another vacancy? CVS might not be everyone's choice - but it is a national company that can survive. King Kullen has sold to Stop & Shop - do you really think that they are going to have 3 Stop & Shop's in Hampton Bays? The diner is still empty, Citibank is still empty....do I need to continue?

State Supreme Court Issues Temporary Restraining Order Against Shinnecock Billboards

Please read Letters to the Editor where C.J. Kader (Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne) states "it would not be out of the ordinary for our combined peoples to come together and visit your communities in a show of support for the Shinnecock on the long Fourth of July weekend, 2019. Possibly so many supporters might arrive there that the local highways may become difficult to navigate safely...." Sounds friendly to me (sarcasm) " May 30, 19 5:26 PM

No - I don't. I know several families on the reservation and have no hard feelings toward anyone. I wish them great success in their endeavors. There is no reason why they can't hold down 2 jobs like everyone else to afford to live in "the hamptons". I do not believe that anyone is above the law or entitled in this life. I am a strong believer in working hard to achieve success." May 30, 19 6:01 PM

Southampton Planning Board Continues Review Of Proposal To Convert Hampton Bays Movie Theater Into CVS

Please remind me - wasn't there a grocery store in that location prior to the movie theater? How did the town handle the deliveries? Traffic? parking? lighting? Come on - this is a stretch - to hold up a valid business who actually wants to come to Hampton Bays - will be there long term - and people are complaining. Of yes - lets have another vacancy. Lets face it - the movie theater is NOT staying - whether CVS comes to town or not - they are leaving. So it makes sense to let the building remain empty - get run down and look like the diner - welcome to Hampton Bays - still the dump of the Hamptons.

Hampton Bays Teens Sad To Say Goodbye To Movie Theater

The movie theater has not been there since 1977" Aug 15, 19 2:40 PM

I'm sure the building owner did not go out of his way to seek a pharmacy to go into his soon to be vacant building. I also highly doubt there are a lot of businesses that are looking for that much square footage to open there either. " Aug 18, 19 12:10 PM
