Police: Eastport South Manor Teacher Charged With Fourth DWI

And your comment was a bit rude.

And who are you to judge if someone has a battle to face.. please don't even go down that road. Unless you have had a chemical dependance issue that has thrown your life into the vicious merrygoround, you have no say on who does or does not need rehab or has a problem!

Public Criticizes Southampton School District Over Student Bullying

Like all else.. it starts in the home. Kids are like sponges... they absorb so much. Why don't we as the "responsible" adults stop turning a blind eye, and hold ourselves AND our kids responsible?" Oct 6, 11 12:51 PM

First off,
1. "And" is not how you start a sentance.
2. Punctuation is your friend...
3. As is correct grammar.

There are absolutely two sides to every story. That I agree with you on, however... You as a parent (possibly), should know better and take the high road when dealing when kids. THAT among other things.. is your job. YOU are an adult.. you should be responsible enough to not only discipline your child.. BUT yourself as well in regards to your response to the recent high school graduate. Lack of respect and loss of common sense is what has caused our kids to act in this way.. and allow me to re-iterate : It all starts in the home." Oct 6, 11 1:08 PM

Oops.. thought it was a parent coming to the defense of their child.. wasn't aware that the responder was his brother..

Regardless, respect and common sense have gone down the toilet." Oct 7, 11 2:32 PM

Public Criticizes Southampton School District Over Student Bullying

My sincerest apologies... Never "professed to be an authority on grammar."

And that's all you can say, hmm? Figures that this whole bullying thing wouldn't bother you, since that's the crux of this story and also indicative of your response. But hey, to each their own. G'head and teach your kids what you just said to me! Allow them to be able to switch topics when things get uncomfortable! Denial: not only a river that flows backwards in Egypt." Oct 12, 11 3:21 PM

Teenager Stabbed After Party in Bridgehampton

Goldenrod: No one singled you out for not watching your kid(s).. However, if you look at all the negative press, (which is primarily what's out there) The massive amount of kids dying or od-ing, more recently.. the jamesport mother and son kidnapping a Laurel teen and beating the crap out of him on an assumption... THIS is more than likely WHY people are asking "where are the parents?"..

The basis behind this reasoning is that kids need supervision... not only that, but how else will they learn to become productive members of society? Or, would you like them to supervise themselves and see who comes out unscathed in the process??

Bottom line here is that for ALL kids.. it starts in the home. Which means that the parents should set forth a precedent on how to behave... then continue that in the schools, with friends and finally the community at large, and the kids have to be held accountable as well. We all have a part in raising a child. Stabbing this kid isn't right, so.. someone didn't do their job." Oct 20, 11 12:50 PM

Southampton High School Student Will Not Return To School After Shotgun Arrest, District Says

On this singular subject:

School security overhead kids discussing the gun, security did their due diligence and went to check it out.
Cops were called, as is appropriate.
Cops had the kid unlock his car... no ammo was found, just the shotgun.
Cops then arrested the kid after he was being "uncooperative"..
Taken into custody and charged.
Shotgun was legally registered to a friend.

This sounds pretty much by the book. It's common sense... not rocket science." Oct 28, 11 1:14 PM

If they did something stupid.. then by all means. Bringing a gun to school, loaded or not... is STUPID. Not only is that action illegal, anyone with a brain in their head could figure out why.

"Uncooperative".. stated by the Chief of PD. Read the story.

So, again... if my child was that dumb, I'd absolutely allow the police to question him.. I'd be there of course, just to possibly smack some sense into his thick head. you have to learn one way or another. Life is a fabulous teacher!

Amagansett House Destroyed By Fire Thought To Be Caused By Dogs

First, they left the dogs ALONE in the house for the WEEKEND!
Second... The cupcakes were left on top of the gas stove in a cardboard box...
The only conclusion that makes sense is that they were not that bright in leaving two labs in a house alone for the weekend with cupcakes in a box on the stove..

NOT BRIGHT... But the fire sure was." Nov 19, 11 4:27 PM

I have no concern for stupidity... this is a very sad state of affairs when society is operated in a state of continual rushing to get places and do things.. and in doing so, forget the simplest things that revolve around the most basic of human thought: Common Sense." Nov 23, 11 10:26 AM

What? Can't stomach the truth? That this very unfortunate accident was caused by lack of thought? No, I don't feel sorry for them.. why? Because, like all human beings.. they're gifted with the ability to think.

And just for the record, my "tone" did not, in any way imply that I was in effect, happy that this senseless tragedy HAD TO HAPPEN. That, my dear... was YOUR perception.

And yet another thing.. my compassion brightly shines at all times of the year.. From helping a newcomer who is to scared to ask for help in a fellowship.. from holding myself accountable for my mistakes and misgivings.. and holy crap.. WORKING ON THEM. Would you like to know why??? Because, my dear.. the definition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over again and expecting different results.
Take a long look in that mirror of yours before calling out others on their characteristics. You might just find out that the actions that other people take that hit a nerve with you... might be the one's that you are unhappy with...in yourself.

Have a Fabulous and Happy Holiday.. eat massive quantities of leftovers." Nov 25, 11 11:02 AM

Two Southampton Schools Flagged For Improvement By State

Remember back in the day, that if you came over to this country... you were expected to suck it up, learn the language and deal? Schools were not German, Italian, Swedish, French, Polish... etc.

Everyone was expected to learn the language.. no one was catered to. Look what happened.. People survived and thrived.. as did this country. Those were the people who built this country, not the ones who took from it.

That's when people had scruples, morals and dignity. Look around you today, and what do you see? "Give me this, give me that.. I'm "unable" to work, yet I undermine the system and get a reduced housing rate.."

Get Off It." Nov 27, 11 3:23 AM

Amagansett House Destroyed By Fire Thought To Be Caused By Dogs

Denial, huh? Well, that'll get you far." Nov 29, 11 7:04 AM

Your denial to see the other side...

Believe you me.. I'm not the most compassionate person out there, but at least I have the intestinal fortitude to see both sides of the coin. Also, when one side tends to be more, let's say.. confrontational because it's not PC and accepted as the "right way to feel".. yep, I bring that side to light.

I apologize if my black and white with a little bit of red viewpoint disturbs you, but.. fortunatly for the people who occupy this country, we're allowed to say what we feel. What I feel, is that this very unfortunate accident could have been prevented by just a little forethought." Nov 29, 11 11:37 AM

Town Will Go To Court, If Necessary, To Stop Homeless Shelter At Hampton Bays Motel

"Not in my backyard."... That's what I'm getting from a large percentage of these comments.

Why are people so damn uncomfortable with the statistics of the homeless population? Is it because that maybe, one day, the fear of becoming homeless might actually happen to the staunch opposers themselves? Or, is it just simply the "fear" of those who ARE homeless RIGHT NOW?? It's cold outside, people... some cannot afford to fill their oil tanks.. some cannot afford to pay their LIPA bills, some cannot affod to put food on the table, IF they have a table to put it on! Some of this is a reality created by your own neighbors.

Let's face it, this is a very sad state of affairs... on either side of the coin; when there are strapping men and able bodied people taking advantage of the gevernment system that is meant to give a hand up to those who cannot (due to physical or mental disabilities) work to provide for themselves and their own.

Also, when there is this turning a blind eye by the populous of this country.. this crap only reinforces the stereotype that "Homeless people are bad". And that's unfair... how many of these homeless have YOU PERSONALLY HELPED? How many do you know from when you were a kid? How many people actually care?

Don't see many." Dec 5, 11 2:10 PM

Breaking News:

There are few jobs to be had anywhere! So, even though I understand that point... it just seems to me that it has the ring of a subtle "not in my backyard" stance. If economic self sufficiency will never be reached, how then are you and yours surviving?

In the surefire way of economics, those who are willing to work for less than their counterparts WILL receive those jobs. It's a fact...and i guarantee you, that they would be grateful for it.

To get the unemployment numbers down, this country should get back to manufacturing and innovation. We'd be ahead of China in no time, afterall.. aren't they using a page of our history to make themselves a world economic power? Oops.. nope. I lied.. We in fact GAVE it to them.. by importing their goods on the cheap and shipping out work to them. Why? Because they were willing to do the work at a faster pace for less money. Now we're in debt to them...
Merry Christmas!" Dec 18, 11 9:30 AM

Southampton Town Board Holds Off On Plastic Bag Ban

Well, if people want to ban the use of plastic bags.. get ready for the 1,2,3 punch coming up next. Someone will invariably find a way to prove the point that all plastics are harmful and should be banned. The keyboards you type on, the material your coffee maker is made of, the casing on your smartphones, and on to ad nauseam..

But, will people support that ban? I'm thinking not so much." Dec 21, 11 6:39 PM

Hidden Cove Puts Human Face On Homelessness

"If you haven't noticed there is a rash of folks showing up and paying off layaway bills with kids' toys on them."

Yep, once a year. I'm sure the publicity is phenominal for one's self-value.

And as to "Whenever there is a tragedy, we give like nobody else on the planet."

So do other people... not just in this area.

We all make choices.. smart ones, dumb ones, ineffective ones, the list goes on. The bottom line here is that we're ALL people.. we're ALL the same. I'd like to think that Karma would hopefully come back and do unto me what I've done unto others. As to the woman who donated a kidney... that's awesome. That's the type of selflessness that imho, should be a part of every human being.. unfortunatly through experience, watching others in their daily lives, seeing myself thru the eyes of others.. we're not all perfect.. but we can strive to be better.

Right?" Dec 28, 11 10:49 AM

It's right off of Montauk highway.. what do you think? Busses sure do! And as to day care? Yes there are places.. babysitting with the kid in the room next door, Pine Tree in riverhead (roanoke ave.. main thoroughfare) the Southampton Headstart, and people can get rides from friends/neighbors. Sag Harbor Considers Using Dogs To Deter Drugs At School

I personally think it's a fabulous idea...

I worked in an inpatient substance abuse facility... and believe you me, the youngn's that we had were a hell of a lot more inventive regarding the stashing of said substances than their older counterparts. A good portion of these kids today are completely uneducated when it comes to the realities that life hands a person. They have their parents hand them everything on a silver platter and when the real world comes a-knockin', they throw up their hands, look confused, pop a pill, shoot some dope and a bunch of coping mechanisms.. all because they were not told how to use the correct tools to learn how to cope. It's sad when these situations have to be brought up, but unfortunatly, they are the reality that people have to deal with today.

I'm totally for the dogs." Jan 21, 12 3:10 PM
