Westhampton Beach superintendent will retire at end of school year

Lynn will be an extremely difficult act to follow. His never ending agenda of improvments really moved the district ahead during his 10 years at the helm." Oct 6, 10 1:31 PM

Longtime East Quogue School Educator Will Retire This Month

and she certainly does not deserve the giant pension she has coming, does she?!" Jun 10, 11 9:12 AM

Actually, my comment was purely tongue in cheek as not only am I a teacher, but my children all had Ro as a teacher. None better. Silly me, I forgot that the naysayers would never read a positive article regarding teachers! Good luck to Mrs. Enners. Big shoes to fill!" Jun 12, 11 6:26 PM

Three Seats Open On Westhampton Beach School Board

Considering the fact that the petitions are not due until April 20th, I expect that you will give "equal time" to the other candidates that intend to run. This premature piece smacks of bias." Apr 10, 15 3:46 PM

Responsible reporting would have entailed waiting until the deadline for submission, April 20th, to ensure that all candidates had the time to file before putting that information out to the public. Cranky? Hardly. Just tired of this paper putting out misinformation and not fact checking. It happens far too often.

Fourth Candidate Joins Race For Westhampton Beach School Board

It will be refreshing to have a school board member who actually knows the needs of a school district and who has had hands on experience with the educational process and its' ever changing mandates and policies.

Parents Challenge Westhampton Beach School Board To Create More Special Needs Programs

Chief, I have read this article 3 times now and still can not find where it is stated that the teachers don't want Aiden at WHB. I was unaware that teachers set policy. I thought that was the purview of the Board of Education. I must need some special help as well." May 11, 15 6:59 PM

New Time Restraints Set For Monday's Public Hearing On The Hills

I hope that the town board was able to see that most of those who spoke in favor of this project were carpetbaggers looking to make a quick buck on the backs of Southampton town. Despite testimony from one speaker on the trustworthiness of Discovery, they purposely "forgot" to mention that their mouthpieces were from the lobbying group the Long Island Business Institute, in particular, Lois Frick, who prattled a list of names and addresses of local people she claims support this project without ever declaring that she works for LIBI. There's honesty. LIBI put out a call to all of its' members to do whatever they can to support Discovery , despite the fact that many of these people do not live anywhere near our area. Check out their website and their members. The people of East Quogue will not be cowed by these shameless lobbies Ta only interested in profit." Dec 5, 16 9:23 PM

Hills Opponents Offer Alternative Plan For East Quogue Property

If you attend the meetings and listen carefully, you will quickly realize that those speaking in favor are those from the Long Island Builder's Institute, although Lois Fricke the Operations Director for these lobbyists failed to mention her affiliation last night. There are a myriad of real estate agents, landscapers, pool companies, restauranteurs hungry for new customers, and the few local people recently hired by Discovery in positions such as director of marketing or other positions. They also write in this publication and if you are a local you will recognize their names and businesses. The local residents are not reaping the benefits and those benefits that Discovery touts are minimal compared to the cost of the damage they will leave behind." Dec 6, 16 7:32 PM

If not a direct tie to DLC then to the lobbyists, The Long Island Business Institute. In fact, in the October 2016 newsletter which can be found online, LIBI requests that all of their members jump on board and help promote this project for their fellow member, DLC. That is where the carpetbaggers at the meetings are coming from." Dec 6, 16 7:34 PM

Second Hearing On 'Hills' Application Gets Rowdy

Yes, the developer has their minions espousing their integrity, honesty and trustworthiness ,yet they encourage their lobbyists from out of town to speak without revealing that they are part of the Long Island Business Institute lobby. The prime example being Lois Fricke who rattled off a bunch of local names who "asked her to speak for them" and never told the audience about her role with LIBI. Honesty and Integrity at its' best. Hills Opponents Offer Alternative Plan For East Quogue Property

Well said Highhat! I am disgusted by the assumption that we local residents are ignorant and can't detect their shams nor see through their smokescreen of testimonials from those in LIBI. Once they get approval, they will be on their way. They don't care about the locals despite Mark Hissey's crocodile tears for Maria Dadino." Dec 8, 16 9:01 AM

Second Hearing On 'Hills' Application Gets Rowdy

Yes, that is one. But there is also the lobby." Dec 8, 16 9:02 AM

Discovery Land Establishes Presence On East Quogue's Main Street

I can't help but wonder where you, Mr. Hissey, and Discovery will be when the environmental clean up is necessary in a few years. I am also wondering how loyal you will be to the local business owners and taxpayers when the grandiose promises you have made do not come to fruition. Reminds me of the American government and their bait and switch schemes presented to the American Indians. I guess you are waiting for our "Wounded Knee". I promise you our resistance is strong." Civics Schedule 'Citizens Public Hearing' For Saturday On East Quogue Golf Resort Application

In keeping with the theme of the proponents of this subdivision, perhaps the Press feels that they have something to gain by omitting pertinent facts and showing their own bias in favor of this environmental nightmare. At what price progress?" Jan 3, 17 1:05 PM

Dr. Gobler Says Luxury Golf Course Resort Would Leave Larger Nitrogen Footprint Than Subdivision

The Southampton Press is remiss and biased for not reporting on the meeting held by the various local civic and environmental organizations held this past Saturday at the EQ school, despite the fact that their reporter was in attendance. In essence Assemblyman Thiele and County legislator and former Southampton Town Board member Bridget Fleming emphatically condemned moving forward with this subdivision/golf course. The much anticipated scientific analysis of Dr. Christopher Gobler clearly illustrated the illusion of Discovery's science. His presentation made it clear that this project exceeds all acceptable parameters for an environmentally sustainable/safe development." Jan 9, 17 5:46 PM

Mr. Wilmott, just because you assert your "facts" does not make them true. Those who have spoken in favor of this debacle are from Easthamton, Southampton, Quogue and one with a "cottage in Noyac and a home in Watermill." That is not 80% by any means. When listening to these people espouse the beauty of Discovery's resorts one wonders if Discovery dug deep into their guest registries to find these people to speak on their behalf and with what carrot? Mark Hissey vowed that no one is being paid so, I have to wonder why these out of towners come to East Quogue on a winter night to vouch for a project that has nothing to do with them and will only impact their lives negatively when our bays are brown and our aquifer is totally contaminated. Cynthia McNamara is NOT an educator. She is an elected Board of Education member. That does not mean that she knows anything about teaching, budget perhaps, but not working with children." Jan 12, 17 7:24 AM

'The Hills' Debate Continues At Final Public Hearing On Environmental Impact Study

Indeed, Turkey Bridge, not only should the Town Board be persuaded by letters actually written by individual senders, I would hope that they are persuaded by the grass root community opposition which only seeks to preserve the environment and the future of this sea side community rather than by the monthly circus of cheerleaders and back slappers that come out for an out of town business seeking to make a "yuge" profit on the backs of the local taxpayers and then leave us to clean up the mess." Dr. Chris Gobler Shares Opinion, Concerns Over 'The Hills' Proposal

Mr. Hissey: What we have all been trying to say both on this forum and at the public hearings is that the Town Board and the Supervisor answer to US, the voters of Southampton Town, not to you, Discovery Land nor your troupe of paid performers." May 4, 17 5:58 PM

Killorans File New Lawsuit Against Westhampton Beach School District Over Son's Education

If Aiden is a Remsenbrug resident with the option of attending either WHB or ESM, how is that outsourcing his education? ESM has the appropriate services already in place. If I were his parent, that would be a no brainer. Keeping this child in limbo and continuing to file lawsuit after lawsuit seems like educational neglect on the part of his parents." UPDATE: PDD Would Have Less Nitrogen Impact, According To Gobler's Latest Environmental Report On 'The Hills'

Interesting thought, Yes. What do you have to say about the busloads of carpetbaggers who appear in favor of a project that will have little to no impact on them other than to provide them with work in the various construction fields for several months? Perhaps the Town Board should mull that over as well." Aug 25, 17 6:38 AM
