Malone no stranger to politics

The two party system is broken, the bickering and obstructionism a that it promotes does nothing for the people!
dagdavid- are you really so ignorant that you believe that the last retard GWB reduced the size of government? He expanded the size of government greatly, while reducing it scope.
Anna is a joke she didn't even stay for her full term! Before trying to weasel her way up the ladder. She is selfish, greedy and power hungry. Nor does she have an understanding of the basic principles of our Constitution.

Hampton Bays woman founds new pro-immigration organization

Good point squeaky! For a Town the loves to talk about being the first English settlement in NY, it's ironic that we as tax payers have to pay for the children of illegal immigrants to go to school here and some are graduating without being able to speak ENGLISH!!!!!!!" May 29, 09 6:02 PM

Shinnecocks reach settlement that could bring federal recognition by 2010

Terry - Thank you for your question. I think providing there is enough room on the ROW on the south side of SR 27 a two leafed clover overpass for eastbound entrance and eastbound exit to and from the facility. The westbound side would only require simple exit and entrance ramps. This would be a design people are familiar with and shouldn't cause confusion.
Another possibility for the eastbound side of SR27 would be left lane exit and entrance overpass ramps the westbound side would remain the same as in first configuration. The left lane exit and entrance I think would cause problems due to many peoples lack of driving ability.
The cost could be picked up by the State and the Shinnecocks. Maybe even some Federal grant money too." May 30, 09 7:53 PM

Throne-Holst to lead Southampton Democrats' November ticket

GO MALONE!!!!! Anna is a sellout for not finishing her term it will cost US for a special election should she win. How is that fiscally responsible???

Terry I know Mrs. Pope is a property owner. Anna is not now but maybe with the raise she is seeking maybe she will be! I don't know about Ms. Kooperstein nor do I know if we will need another special election for her seat in Justice Court or if they will just have the Justices work a real schedule." Jun 2, 09 6:47 PM

Terry - I was talking about if Ms. Kooperstein was a property owner. The second part I was wondering if she has completed her term as Justice or if upon her election there would be another vacant seat as there will be should Anna get elected. ATH's seat will require a special election to cover her last two years as council person (which she would be bailing on)

As far as the Justices go their work schedule is appalling, they are the highest paid Town employees when you figure they hours they put if for their salaries! Seems unjust!

I am with you on the she is no super hero! I'm aware of Mr. Malone's warnings that went unheeded by the full Town Board. They continued to expand the bloated inefficient cash cow they viewed this Town as.
Anyone comparing Jim Malone to Skip Heany or any other small minded corrupt past Supervisors is really delusional!
Malone is a cut above anyone that has sat in that seat!" Jun 3, 09 7:41 AM

'State of Long Island' measure is largely symbolic

Think about this for a minute Long Island includes Brooklyn and Queens!

(If Long Island were to form a state, it would have to reimburse the State of New York for state-owned property, including roadways, parks and buildings, said Jim LaCarrubba, chief of staff for State Senator Brian X. Foley)

The above statement shows how we the people get screwed! We as the state of long Island would have to pay the State of NY back for things that were built with taxpayer money!!! This is what's wrong with or country as a whole, government agencies see them selves as separate with their own interests and that is the way it should be. They are here to SERVE us not suck the life blood from us!!!

Thiele go on the Daily Show don't be a wimp!!!!" Jun 3, 09 7:56 AM

Plan to collect seaweed shot down by East Hampton Town Trustees

Good Job Trustee's!! If he wants to go harvest it by hand as was traditionally done he would be more then welcome but the idea of driving a Four Wheel Drive vehicle through the Littoral Zone is going way to far!

You would think a 11th generation resident would know better than to ask to destroy habitat on public land!!

LMVT - Calling this women a TRAITOR is as American as APPLE PIE!!! Anyone whose work seeks to assist criminals, undermines the very foundation of this country. To assist and reward people for breaking the law is UN-AMERICAN!!!!
By the way I mow my own lawn, because I refuse to support illegal immigrants.
I also enjoy mowing it... NOW THAT'S AMERICAN!!!!!

I think if she didn't pointedly state that she wants to help ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS there wouldn't be a problem! Teaching LEGAL IMMIGRANTS to read, speak and write English is noble and needed!

How would it go over if I wanted to start a group to help Crack Dealers learn Marketing??? It's illegal but they are miss understood... and at least they spend there money here in the US!!!" Jun 4, 09 12:41 AM

Officials focus on immigration's impact on East End economy

Farms, please don't use farms to make excuses for why we need immigrants I remember what it look like out here 30 years ago when there were farms and it was rural! After selling out to the second, third and even fourth trophy home business.... allowing the farmland to be raped and plundered.... now you want to talk about farms disappearing. Smells like Bull%#*! looks like Bull%#*! now you expect me to taste it.... come on!!!!

LIPA seeking permission to install second power line on South Fork

Remember the Bury the lines campaign? The Town Board members were responsible for working with LIPA to get the lines buried and people said Kudos and the like for a job well done. They went above and beyond their duty. Which they did when they instituted the action against LIPA

They were instructed to do so by the Town's Comprehensive Plan which the tax payer's paid for. Then the egocentric Boards members ATH and Nuzzi accepted great praise for doing something they were suppose to do!!

It's all about the SPIN with these people... they should be ashamed of their behavior, unless they didn't read that portion of the plan then they should be ashamed of their ignorance!!!

Get that Juice to Westwoods!!!!

Federal recognition for Shinnecocks would boost casino effort

"He that trusteth in his riches shall fall" Proverbs 11:28

Bring this up when the basket goes around at church!

The Casino wouldn't be the first in Hampton Bays read Good Ground Remembered, Being that Hampton Bays has historically had casinos in the past it is the ideal location for one now! Everyone likes to talk about history well there you have it... give the book a read!" Jun 5, 09 1:07 AM

Nursing home still connected with large company

This place is bad news I had a friend who stayed there while recovering from a car accident. I saw what it was like and he told me about the lack of promptness when he would page aides. He was one of the younger people there and repeatedly said the way the older patients were treated was wrong! " Jun 5, 09 1:12 AM

Westhampton Beach Village Board votes behind closed doors

Frank Wheeler Get the facts straight guy.... 400 years ago the Brits weren't even in the North East yet and when they did get here it wasn't people from their jails that first arrived nor anytime soon after. Guess what your last name is English and one of the older on LI. Looks like you and your wife may be related by more than marriage!!!

Federal recognition for Shinnecocks would boost casino effort

squeaky, The time period was late 1920's and early 1930's.

As for capacity if you compare the population at that time to now 65,000 sq ft is proportional . That is not very big when you consider all the 10,000+ sq ft houses out here and don't forget Ira Rennart's 125,000 sq ft home in Sagaponack!

The Casino could be accessed from Sunrise Highway thus not affecting traffic in Hampton Bays. Think of how it could lower our out of control taxes!

The book Good Ground Remembered has quite a bit of interesting information on Hampton Bays, check it out if you get a chance.

Hults faces felony charges; probe's focus turns to supervisor's office

Great start!!! The important thing is that Spota's team make examples out of these people. If they do a good job of it, maybe it will scare some ethics and integrity back into politics!!

POLITICS- root words: Poly = many Tic(k)s = bloodsuckers

Southampton Town is hopefully on deck for a clean-up!!! If East Hampton misappropriated as much as they did, I wonder how much was misused in Southampton Town considering they had more than twice as CPF money to play with!!!

Application for 29-lot subdivision in East Quogue is withdrawn

darwin- Are you flipping serious "better he should donate the land to the town and get a tax break". How about this even better yet he should sue the town for acting in an arbitrary and capricious manner with regard to enforcing and designating what is Pine Barrens. Why would he want to donate the land to the very people who constantly take, take, take in the form of taxes while impeding his productive use of his property. How about they BUY it from him? Oh wait that wont work then they lose their 400,000 a year extortion payments.

People are so quick out here to step on others rights in the name of preservation and the holy grail of property rights subversion "Wetlands"

Why do two separate government agencies (SH Conservation Board & DEC) issue wetlands permits?
This is a prime example of too much government, the DEC should go, they constantly complain of not having the manpower and resources they need to carry out their responsibilities. Yet they constantly seek to expand their role in many areas, when they can't take care of what is currently on their plate!" Jun 12, 09 8:16 AM

TD Bank approved in Hampton Bays

Good point! Every time I drive past the old Noth Fork Bank in Hampton Bays it pisses me off! How long is that turd going to sit there it is such an eyesore!
The HBBC and others try to make this town look nice and no matter what they do that building detracts from it.

The following should have come from the Planning Board but as you may know half of that board is pure useless. If you don't know watch a few of their meetings and it will become abundantly clear. George isn't even awake half the time, not that his being awake would make much of a difference!
As for the variance they are seeking, the ZBA should make it contingent upon them using some form of permeable surface instead of standard asphalt. We all like to talk GREEN, let see some action instead of lip-service. It is 2009 we need to start sometime!!! " Jun 12, 09 8:35 AM

Report says anti-immigrant atmosphere in Suffolk County fuels violence

Fact: Native Americans came here from Asia, so they are immigrants too!!!
The Eastern Europeans that work out in MTK & East Hampton are ALL here on work Visas of one kind or another. They spend most of their money here on clothes, electronics, food, alcohol & rent." Sep 21, 09 4:53 PM

Oddone trial to start Tuesday

I wonder why Mr. Oddone was asked to get down from the table? Females are allowed to dance on tables, but males are not, this seems discriminatory. Was that a Publick house policy? " Sep 23, 09 8:55 AM

Arrest tape could be used in Kabot DWI case

True about the Rodney King footage but that was a privately shot video whereas this is police video. There was also the Reggie Deny video shot during the riots which was viewed extensively on TV before during & after the trail, which was shot by a news chopper. In both these instances the D.A. didn't have a say.
As for Linda she is human & made a huge mistake given her position in the Town.
She would do better to own up to it & move forward. " Sep 23, 09 9:09 AM
