Westhampton Beach Fire District Aims To Move Forward With New Firehouse

Where are the experts in all of this. It seems the most important consideration in fire/rescue is response time not garage space. Should substations be considered. Should the rescue boat and a ladder truck be stationed on Dune Road. Is the current location of the firehouse the most strategic. Should this property be sold in favor of a less expensive parcelling or parcells if substations are appropriate. Many questions which should be answered." Dec 17, 12 11:44 AM

Maidstone Golf Club Weeks Away From Irrigation System Upgrade

Having supervised the installation of the irrigation system for our Club, I went to great extent to insure the pump station was no where near anyone's home. Maidstone has enough property to insure the same. Also I am sure (or maybe not) Mrs. Olshan would appreciate you getting her name right." Oct 16, 14 4:37 PM

Two More Potential Stumbling Blocks For CVS Application In Westhampton Beach

Small town politics is an interesting phenomenon. Progressive communities get it right and advance appropriate growth, competition and thus community benefits. Westhampton Beach usually gets it wrong but let's give our new Mayor a chance. There is a lot of undoing to be done. " Nov 16, 14 9:12 AM

East Hampton Airport Budget Committee Cannot Work Out Impact Of Proposed Regulations

JohnPiasecki whose father invented the twin rotor helicopter told me that there are ways to reduce significantly helicopter noise. Helicopters can use shorter and more blades. The Piaseckis run a helicopter research and development firm in Philadelphia. Talk to them. " Mar 3, 15 8:34 PM

Bill To Extend CPF Tax And Tap It For Water Quality Efforts Could Be Approved By End Of The Year

Some 200 + years after Patrick Henry, the East End Towns continue to pass heavy tax burdens on homeowners disenfranchised from voting on there implementation! Give all property owners the right to vote. It's the right thing to do.

Supporters Of The Hills Turn Out In Force At Southampton Town Board Meeting Tuesday

And your point is? Let me guess: the landowners who pay most of the real estate taxes in the Town of Southampton can't vote here! Ha ha democracy! " Aug 26, 17 9:24 AM

Your observation of my post is in error. I was responding to Turkey Bridge as were you. If I was responding to you, VOS, I believe it would have been one step indented! " Sep 3, 17 10:07 AM

Lofstad, Bouvier Reject Findings Statement On 'The Hills' Project Tuesday

Yesterday I played golf at Maidstone, today at Shinnecock. This Summer I’ve played at Sebonack and National. I’m a member at Westhampton CC golf. Recently on channel 22 a woman stated that our east end economy is totally built on our beaches, bays and fishing and clamming. This delusional thinking is in the minds of John Bouvier and Julie Lofstad. If you read JB’sprevious weekly letter in SH Press, you would know that he and his partner in delusion would never vote for this PDD. Close down all these fabulous, environmentally sensitive golf course facilities and let me know how our east end economy does. " Sep 29, 17 8:36 PM

Thiele Proposes New Real Estate Transfer Tax To Aid First-Time Homebuyers

There won’t be any “newcomers” or at least significantly fewer. The CPF tax is absurd, and it has more money than it could ever use for the purpose it was established. It has stretched environmentally sensitive acquisitions to a head scratching level. Maybe Taxing Fred should legislate CPF funds for affordable housing. Not as much of a stretch as some of its acquisitions. " Feb 3, 18 8:27 PM

Westhampton Beach Farmers Market Will Have New Home This Year

Why do we need a farmer’s market at all. Village residents complained loudly about not having a decent market. Now that Best Market has made an investment in the Village it should be supported. The FM caters to merchants who have no connection whatsoever to our Village. It is quaint but a real detriment to a company, Best Market, willing to invest real money in our community. Southampton Town Board Looks At Spending $4 Million In CPF Money To Preserve Sag Harbor Cinema

If CPF were to prioritize its future investments, I trust the Sag Harbor movie theatre would be at the bottom of the list. Sag Harbor thrives year ‘round with or without the movie theatre. It’s community character is well preserved and it’s movie theatre should be a Sag Harbor community project or privately owned (Ted Conklin).
We have a movie theatre in Westhampton that you would not want to be in when the lights are on. We also have the WHPAC, supported by donations and performance sales. No CPF help here.
Westhampton has a cleaner water sewer system planned. We could use some help CPF.
I wonder what the Sag Harbor Movie theatre “back story” is." Oct 5, 18 7:08 AM

Tuckahoe Taxes Have Some Seeking Relief From Southampton Town

And of course none of these school districts would consider merger to address the real problem here—the exorbitant “administrative” costs of running these separate districts. Perhaps the Town of Southampton should have one school district. and spread the cost to all town residents. Residents of unincorporated Town areas and hamlets pay a fraction of residents in these school districts. Another real cost is the $10,000 limit on deductibility of State and local taxes. The answer here is cutting costs and then spreading the costs fairly throughout theTown. " Jan 24, 19 1:02 PM
