East Hampton belt-tightening recommended

Actually, cpilato, you are an example of not completely accurate. You forgot to say that the Y offered to let the town save money by reducing its payment ONLY if the contract would be extended longer than it already is. You left out that little arm-twisting detail." Apr 13, 09 10:09 PM

Fallen soldier's remains arrive on the East End

This is a terrible sad thing, and I feel for this young man and his family and friends. But we should not glorify his death and preclude comments about the ongoing political decisions that create the situations that end up with innocent young men like this signing up to be soldiers and getting killed. Blind allegiance to our politicians and reverence for their wars does not honor their lives and deaths. This is a democracy, and we should constantly question our country's involvement in the ongoing fighting that ends up with our sons and daughters dying." Jun 9, 10 9:45 PM

UPDATE: Storm Lessens In Intensity; Should Make Landfall At 10 a.m.

That won't happen, at least in East Hampton. Town officials, though pressed to make that kind of arrangement, have never pursued it, and the regular shelters, which are run by the Red Cross, do not allow pets. Two places in EH (ARF and the Montauk Playhouse) will accept kenneled pets but without their owners. I don't think too many pet owners will part from their pets that way.

Springs Superintendent Suggests Looking Into Creating More Parking Spaces

Where is this idea coming from? Is there really a need to pave over more land? Does the community need or want another school parking lot abomination like the bus parking area that the school put in on Old Stone Higheway?
Show us where there is a such a big problem with cars parking along School Street that this expense and paving is warranted. How many problems/ complaints have there been?
Or is this just another one of Supervisor Wilkerson's half baked ideas?
