Westhampton Beach Teachers Reject Proposed Salary Freeze

Three of the four bargaining units in the WHBSD have agreed to salary freezes. According to the Triborough decision these three units will be frozen until they can agree to a new contract. What reason would the BOE and Superintendent have to EVER negotiate another contract with these people? Their salaries will be frozen FOREVER. The one bargaining unit remaining without a freeze is the only hope for WHBSD employees to ever get a contract in the future. Hang tough teachers!!!" Mar 15, 13 9:38 AM

Westhampton Beach School Taxpayers Divided Over Proposed Spending Cuts

Over the past several years the WHBTA has made concessions to their contract to help the BOE close budget gaps. The WHBTA has made several proposals over the past eighteen months to help close this current shortfall and help solve the district's current financial dilemma. The Superintendent and BOE have REJECTED all attempts at any type of compromise with the TA. The Superintendent and BOE are currently unwilling to entertain any type of contract extension in exchange for the current salary freeze being proposed. This is not the way collective bargaining and compromise works. The BOE and Superintendent want complete capitulation of all its bargaining units while offering NOTHING in return. Birk Announces Candidacy For Westhampton Beach Village Board

Recycling the trustees? When will new faces, ideas and honesty arrive? Maybe never. Until the old guard, and I mean ALL OF IT leaves nothing will ever change. People get the government they deserve. " May 1, 13 1:34 PM

UPDATE: Elizabeth Lindtvit To Replace Rebecca Molinaro

Liz Lindtvit will do a highly professional job in her new position provided she will not be bossed, bullied and intimated by the powers that be in Village Hall. Why do you think Rebecca Molinaro left for East Hampton? A better job with much more professional people to work with. Westhampton Beach Village government has become Theatre of the Absurd." East Hampton Hoops Coaching Legend Ed Petrie Dies

Great Coach who was an even better person. It was a challenge and a honor to compete against him and his teams. He was a legend while still coaching and his legacy will carry on throughout all the east end communities. His basketball program was the definition of excellence and class. He taught me more than I can ever begin to describe. God bless him and his family." May 27, 15 11:53 PM
