Bishop fields questions on health care reform

The drug companies, lobbyists, most politicians and insurance companies have conspired for a long time to make our health care a labyrinth of confusion, with profit as their only motive. We are taxed to death, including death. Medical professionals hands are tied, paperwork is to absorbent. Medical care is a birth rite and not just for you privileged bastards. The U.S. is in the stone age as far as health care reform. Politics as usual. Let the tea parties continue." Aug 28, 09 11:16 AM

Quogue women say they were mistakenly doused by Suffolk County Vector Control truck

In '63 we'd ride our bikes thru this heavy fog emitted by a truck, on our block. It turned out it was a vector control vehicle. 40 yrs. later everyone's fine, I think (LOL). I don't know if its the same chemical in use today. It was fun and it smelled great. It controlled the mosquito population and for that I'm thankful. Those were different days. We left our doors open and keys in our cars and our dogs loose and everyone was happy. THE END. " Aug 29, 09 10:47 AM

East Hampton residents rally for health care reform

Insurance Co's, lobbyists,right-wing political extremist and their shareholders are fighting hard to keep the status Quo. They want to continue making money hand over fist. Even folks who can afford the insurance are being taken for fools. Forget about being covered for a long term illness; your not;sorry. Maybe you people should try it, and give the Doctors a break. They wouldn't have perform unnecessary surgery on you to cover their malpractice insurance premiums, HA! HA!. President Obama must stay the coarse and give everyone equal health and medical, it's a God given right. AMEN. " Sep 8, 09 8:07 PM

Supervisor Kabot will fight DWI charge, stay in race

Mr. shaw, why do you let some stories be commented on and other updated ones not? Could it be your afraid that some truth might get out? or could it be your slanted towards a particular view? or you don't have the guts to let it fall where it may. Not very balanced reporting." Sep 10, 09 3:18 PM

School officials prepare for possible outbreak of swine flu

One solution:You know, the grocery store" STOP AND SHOP", in Riverhead (great store by the way), offers free sanitizing towelettes from a free standing germ- free dispenser, at the entrance of their store. Southampton Hospital also offers this.. Now, if at least the schools did this, then, I truly believe that certain virus's would be kept in check.Other businesses might even follow suit, If money is an issue, then a donation with a plague naming the contributor would be appropriate, (non- commercial of course), and why not?" Report says anti-immigrant atmosphere in Suffolk County fuels violence

Government, especially local, continues to drop the ball on the issue of humans migrating to America, for what ever reason. We ,as a nation, should welcome all immigrants to this great country and help them become good tax paying citizens, after all some of us and all of us are in someway related to immigrants who realized America had something special to offer. What is needed is a way to identify everyone. Encrypted licenses and encrypted license looking IDs., but nobody has the right to come to you and ask for your I.D. without reasonable cause. Those without will be helped to get one. The Future. You heard it here. Come on Government get on the ball! The truth.

Westhampton Beach is turned off by Cablevision proposal

Cablevision is a monopoly and there's nobody out there that will put an end to their bullying policies. I wish we had alternatives to these money hungry bastards, but we don't. The P.S.C. takes money thru the back door and cablevision has a lot to give. The East End towns should consider their own cable services and when completed, they could serve as a model to other Suffolk towns. " Oct 6, 09 8:02 PM

Residents outraged over proposed windmill plan

THE real ISSUE here, is the health of OUR PLANET.. The sub sonic transmission of varying frequencies emitted by high velocity Wind Catchers(wind mills) and the introduction of electro-magnetic fields, all of which cause reproductive damage in mammals, reptiles, fish, game and vegetation.. Windmills/ Wind farms should be banned throughout the planet because of the damage to the ecology. Just as dogs hear frequencies, that humans don't; windmills transmit high and low frequencies, some audible, some not. These sound signals can be very destructive. They can travel both short and long distances throughout the air, ground and water, these transmittance interrupt the natural biological occurrence of reproduction and destroy habitat boundaries. Those also affected include, birds, bats, bees, good insects even pregnant mothers to be..Sound can actually destroy vegetation. We as humans are overwhelming the great forces of nature. I'm just a musician, so what do I know? " Oct 6, 09 9:39 PM

Fisherman counts his blessings after falling off his boat

I agree with Bill in Riverhead, Mr. Perlroth definitely deserves recognition with an award. Hopefully monetary. His quick unselfish act exemplifies heroism with absolute disregard for his own life. A role model, a real American hero, not some pro baller or actor ,making millions, which is what a lot of kids and adults look up to;what a disgrace....... Mr. Perlroth is a hero in every sense of the word, also outstanding commendations for their quick and professional rescue actions, should be given to all the second responders, for without their training and support the former might not have ended the way it did, God Bless them all................Westhampton beach dropped the ball on this one....Shame on you Mr. wannabe MAYOR..........Vote... people..vote..........."
