THE real ISSUE here, is the health of OUR PLANET.. The sub sonic transmission of varying frequencies emitted by high velocity Wind Catchers(wind mills) cause reproductive damage in mammals, reptiles, fish, game and vegetation.. Windmills/ Wind farms should be banned throughout the planet because of the damage to the ecology. Just as dogs hear frequencies, that humans don't; windmills transmit high and low frequencies, some audible, some not. These sound signals can be very destructive. They can travel both short and long distances throughout the air, ground and water, these transmittance interrupt the natural biological occurrence of reproduction and destroy habitat boundaries. Those also affected include, birds, bats, bees, good insects even pregnant mothers to be..Sound can actually destroy vegetation. We as humans are overwhelming the great forces of nature. Other reasons why these should be disallowed are; On a larger scale, just picture a 32 foot high 3 bladed wind turbine on every piece of property in your neighborhood, unsightly number 1. Some would be whooshing around, some screeching, do to bearing failure and some falling over(maybe on your house) due to lack of proper maintenance. These stationary units would change all natural habitat systems, including humans, forever. " Dec 23, 09 10:43 AM
INS, I must assume you are talkin' to me, since I'm the only Johnny on the board. Yours and others, misinterpretations of my orig. post and the inclusion of out of town problems has prompted me to clarify a few things for you and the people on this board. First off, nowhere did I mention a concern of animals being killed by the whirling blades of death and nowhere did I mention that vibrations were of any concern. The scientific studies in "Destructive Ultra Sound" are widely accepted throughout the worlds scientific community and it is this phenomenon that I want to bring to the attention of all who care. So please, ACT LOCALLY and THINK GLOBALLY. ...MERRY CHRISTMAS to all. " Dec 25, 09 11:59 AM
Walt,
We're glad you left our beautiful town. One less person to destroy it."

Hey Repub,
Back then, farmers also used DDT and other carcinogenic pesticides.
Not to smart Eh?

Sag Harbor downtown is such a beautiful place, one of the crown jewels of the South Folk. Let's hope the village can straighten this situation out, to the benefit of all parties involved. " Jan 26, 10 9:38 PM

Noise pollution from those idling trains is the worst droning sound you'll ever feel and hear since the engines were upgraded. The low dB levels can actually can cause heart palpation's and cardiac arrhythmia. A clear example of the gov't polluting the air. Ms. Schmitta sounds like she might actually know something about Sound and that's good. " Feb 3, 10 12:53 PM
Sorry to say but, a light is desperately needed there as there have been many deaths at that intersection. The religious cross marker there just isn't enough of a deterrent. So sad." Feb 3, 10 1:10 PM
Higher taxes? just what we all need in this ghost town of Riverhead.
I'd take a broken down school over bloated teachers pay any day. Get rid of the multiple do-nothing, over-lapping administrators who earn $100,000 plus a year and put that money towards improvements. A quality education begins with quality teachers, (and we have a few), not some new structures. Some of the most sought after educational structures are over 100 years old and they are beautiful because they've been maintained properly. Fire this maintenance department for their ineptness at maintaining our school buildings and grounds.Student population is dwindling as I speak. You want to raise my property taxes so you can all feel good in a new school, I think not. Any fool who votes for this expansion has rocks in their head for brains and I'd like to sale them some swamp land in Louisiana. Get real people. We don't live in Pleasant ville. We live in a crime ridden, high taxed, nepotistic, behind closed door dealing town/school board fiasco ghost township. These crooks who tout that our childrens educational needs aren't being met, are the same ones using our children as shields to hide behind, to pilfer our pockets and bank accounts. Wake the F@#$^%&%* UP. Southampton you have a stake in this too. AND WHY NOT?

tax free :
Quote-"You can come to downtown virtually tax free," Mr. Walter. This is exactly why we need to vote this bum out before he does more damage to the homeowners of Riverhead. The next supervisor should condemn Gordon's properties and others like his. Cardinal gave away the store(deferred Tanger Taxes, Deferred Grumman development taxes, deffered rt58 business taxes. Increased homeowner property taxes, increased school taxes and pay raises for the town board, town supervisor and now this idiot wants to do the same. Wake up tax-paying property owners. Will somebody please step up in the next election who isn't a cop or lawyer? and who has the taxpayers best interest at heart and stop this crap. Riverhead is drowning in it's own cesspool of behind the door dealings and politics. For now, put the brakes on this towns development until we can elect the peoples choice. Your truly. Johnny Nova. Very Taxed by the MTA
I don't particularly like politicians that much but,Thank you Senator Kenn LaValle, Legislator Ed Romaine, Assemblyman Dean Murray, Assemblyman Fred Thiele, and Assemblyman Marc Alessi, for it is refreshing to see and hear, what seems to be an important issue with us taxpayers being addressed by a bipartisan collection of elected officials. Please keep up the good work and continue to work closely with one another.
Thanks for all you do.
Sincerely, Johnny Nova
P.S. props to Diggers."

Highhatsize.............your the best. Thanks for not crumbling like a cheap deck of cards. Kudos." Mar 6, 10 6:17 PM
Highhatsize, again I would like to commend you on your logical and constitutional positioning regarding your brilliant postings on this page. You are clear and concise while the other views are distorted probably because of the constant barrage of cop and law shows on TV. Phobic intoxication and catastrophising; are words I would use to describe the other posters here. For they are the lost ones. They are probably very young people with very little life experience and will tend to depend on government to cure all their ills.So sad.For they would give up their constitutional rights to satisfy their thirst to feel safe at any cost, albeit a false sense. Not me, and, thank God, it seems not you. Our forefathers died horribly for us to have such freedoms and yet they take them so lightly. Your one solution regarding drunk driving is a no-brainer. The other posters are no-brainers also. Oops...will they print that. " Mar 11, 10 12:05 PM
Let me see, a choice between a lawyer and a cop. Hmmm, Doesn't work for me.
Here's a novel idea, how about someone we can trust. Nope, to simple."
Mar 11, 10 6:30 PM
HIHATSIZE, Again, I almost always seem to agree with you. Jessica and the Press have done another outstanding job. The nerve of Chief Wilson to try and cover up and manipulate information that is a constitutional right of the people.(Freedom of Information Law). It just shows the scheming that goes on behind closed doors and lack of knowledge of constitutional law. The Police chief thinks he's above the law. Wrong. Now, the taxpayers will trust SH PD less and less. This episode hurts the police officers who are trying to do the right thing at full time police officers and not landscapers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, private security, etc. These are taking work away work from legitimate trades people who's only source of income is their trade and full time at that. When police officers take their oath upon graduating from the police academy they swore to be a peace officer for life. 24/7, even after retirement; and only after retirement are they be allowed their privacy. If their not content with the money their making on the force, friggin quit the force and make all the money you want in the private sector. Maybe there's not enough work for them on their tours so they seek other means of employment, if that's the case, reduce the number of officers and save taxpayers money. Wilson judgment represents very questionable policy at the highest level so he should resign. And Why Not?
Sincerely,
Johnny Nova "

With a board approved time-line,They should be able to keep their permit as long as they are making strides toward the final solution. Mr. Samuelson has got it right when he asks, "What does it look like? How big is the shell? Where is it on the property? What additional reviews may be necessary?" and how long will it take to finish,IMA?
Nobody should have to endure any sound that nature did not create. As a rock Star, I never impose my loud music on anyone. I've performed at venues that are equipped with sound canceling sub straits on the inside which consume the noise and never becomes the outside noise. Bonnie Schnitta better know how to construct a band shell relative to extreme loud acid rock as the benchmark, 'Cause, anything less would be a failure. I don't care if she is an engineer.Let's read about what she done. See one, hear one etc.....and then show me the money JERRY. This new shell could be a boom the local economy where everyone would benefit except, of course, for that one stick in the mud. I'd just yank that problem stick out of the mud and make the most people happy. I hope the shell become a reality. Live entertainment is one of the best forms of relaxation known to mankind. Good Luck to all."

In my neck of the woods. the electrical wires are covered by overgrown tree limbs. It's a no brainer that we have power outages. Lilco charges a fortune for their monopoly on electricity and yet do little in the way of preventive maintenance. Yea, I've called them. My concerns have fallen on deaf ears. Tell your state Reps to vote No on any electric rate increases. What else can you do?" Mar 15, 10 6:55 AM
Let's ban cell phones at all beaches, it's annoying to hear people talking on them while on their beach blanket next to me.($100 fine). Let's ban suntan lotion and perfume at all beaches because their smell is repulsive to me.($25 fine) Let's ban small children on all our beaches because they always get sand on me while running by($5.fine) Let's ban frisbee's($20 fine). Let's ban radios($20 fine), Let's ban beach umbrellas because they block my views($15 fine). Let's ban ugly people, remember this is the haumptons($75 fine). Let's ban fat people because they take up too much room on the beach (and on airplanes)($200 fine) Speaking of airplanes. Let ban those airplanes flying advertisements over the beach. They're noisy and could crash and hurt our surfers and swimmers($2000 fine). Let's ban all beach goers because they their ruining the beach sand and leaving holes and foot prints all over the place($250 fine). Now with all that additional revenue. We can hire a good lawyer and fire the people involved in the mismanagement of the town. Most of all let's ban people posting idiotic statements as most above have done ($ priceless). My Dad is 89 and has smoked his entire life. Most of you will be lucky if you reach 76. So stop with your posturing, please. Y'all brain washed. Puff,Puff.mmmmmmmmm . Come on ya'll this way off the cliff, now stay in line." Mar 16, 10 9:42 PM

Finally, someone gets it. Solar powered structures and electric cars are the future. These are both DIY possible alternatives to fossil fuels, but the scarcity and price of equipment needs to be addressed. The sooner the better." Apr 2, 10 12:48 PM
