East Quogue Residents Push To Incorporate Following Rejection Of The Hills

I’m not sure exactly how it works but, hypothetically, let’s say the incorporated village board receives a proposal from a large, deep pocketed development company. Let’s also say the village board votes against it and the developer sues the board and individual members for $100 million. Will the EQ taxpayers have to absorb the cost of legal fees and possible judgement/settlement? Is it possible for a large developer to financially cripple a small village with lawsuits? East Quogue Residents Will Vote On Village Incorporation Next Week

Discovery Land currently has a $100 million lawsuit against the Southampton Town Board challenging their denial of The Hills PDD. Let’s say the new Village of EQ is created and for some reason rejects Discovery Land”s new building plan (everyone knows it’s coming.) Who foots the bill for the new $100 million lawsuit against the Village of EQ? This has been asked quite a few times in various forums but I have yet to hear a clear answer. " Oct 16, 19 3:45 PM
