Fishing license injunction extended again; attorney general refuses to take case

i am completely against the idea of these permits, but i dont know if its really accurate to call it "economic suicide." my understanding is that its $10/yr or $150/lifetime. its cheap, all things considered, but that doesnt make it right. " Oct 24, 09 8:19 PM

Fishermen to Washington: Help us or we won't survive

Read the article genius...it says the rally and movement included recreational and commercial fisherman. Stop relying on past differences and try to find common ground or ALL fishing will be lost.

As the saying goes......if youre not part of the solution........you know the rest. " Feb 26, 10 10:47 AM

Fishermen plan civil disobedience

that it such an uninformed and ignorant statement.

i do not put myslef forward as any expert, but i do know that the regulations they have in place are out of control. Ask any real expert and they will tell you that the stocks the regulations are meant to protect are thriving, not depleting, and yet the regulatiosn get worse and worse.

ask any commercial fisherman and they will tell you that the gov't actually pays them to kill fish and discard them, rather than bring them in to the market. its idiotic. " May 4, 10 5:03 PM

Dog poisoned; was it whale meat?

Are you serious?

As you know EH has no leash law so when most people, myself included, bring our dogs to the beach, we let them run to strecth their legs. Any dog owner knows that you cannot fully control what dogs get into or what they get in their mouths at the beach.

to try and blame the dog owner for this is just moronic. " May 6, 10 5:12 PM

No jail time, fine for Hults after guilty plea; grand jury does not indict McGintee

There is one major flaw in your argument however, and thats that illegal things did happen. Mr. Hults was forced to enter a guilty plea to charges of securities fraud and official misconduct.

In order for your claim that nothing illegal was done by Mr. McGintee to hold any water, you would have to conclude that Mr. Hults was not only the brains behind the entire operation but also the sole person involved in making and authorizing the illegal money transfers to and from the CPF account without any knowlegde or dirction by Mr. McGintee.

Im sorry but that just doesnt make any sense.

Look, I'm not fan of this witch hunt either. I think we would all be better served by moving on correcting problems we face rather than both sides trying to make themselves look good by pointing fingers. But there is one thing i do know, and thats that McGintee's allowing Hults to become the sole fall guy for this fiasco, forcing him to endure a humiliating perp walk, forcing him to sell his house to pay legal fees, etc, is simply shameful (and no, Hults is not my friend or family, Ivenever met the man)" Jun 22, 10 10:30 AM

If i am wrong, please feel free to correct me, but i dont recall McGintee ever saying he had no idea these transfers were made. It is my recollection that he freely admitted they were made and that it was his opinion that they were perfectly legal. No? " Jun 22, 10 12:05 PM

i dont have to stay out of anything. I am a year round tax paying resident in this Town and i have every right to pose a comment or question on this issue, as it effects me just as much as it effects you. " Jun 22, 10 12:25 PM

HB90 - Im not really sure what you are boasting about, the Judge, the DA and the Report classify Hults and McGintee as being:

1. Grossly incompetent for the job at hand;
2. Asleep at the switch when it came to town finances
3. The primary reason for destroying the financial health of the town; and
4. Leaving "a record of fiscal malfeasance rivaling any other town government in the history of the state.

So, he didnt get incited or charged with a crime, how nice. It doesnt change the mess we are in.

And before i get accused of being some operative, etc., i voted for McGintee each time he ran for office.

But the fact remains, even if there problems with the previous admininstration (which it appears there were), it was McGintee's lack of any oversight and Hult's complete incompetence that will screw us all for the foreseeable future. " Jun 23, 10 3:39 PM

Southampton Village mayor foresees legal battle over proposed Tuckahoe commercial mall

RE: Icecreamman.

I dont live in SH or know that much about this applciaiton, but i question your statement that "what we need are cheaper rents."

While that may be true, i guess you could say that everyone would love cheaper rent. We have a similar problem here in EH. EH Village is the most useless strip of "stores" known to man. BUT, if you have Corporation X willing to pay 10K for a store, and a local business can only pay 4K for the same space, its hard to tell the owner that he should take the 4K because it would be better for the Town...no? 7-Eleven quietly moving into Montauk

there is no "ban" in reality. that tyope of ban is patently illegal.

instead the way it works is that to stop a McD's...the ban drive thrus, so McD's wont want to come bc thats huge part of their business. They also limit store size...so then no Walmart, etc., b/c they dont want the space restrictions. . " Jul 16, 10 8:49 AM
