Southampton Town deputy supervisor confronts, shoves PBA president over comments about budget

It is a sad day for Mr. Jones and WestPoint. Mr. Aube never said "smoke and mirrors". It was obvious that he was reading from a written statement. Mr. Gwinn said "smoke and Mirrors". I was present at the meeting and in the hallway when Mr. Jones pushed through reporters to get at Mr. Aube. Mr Jones and the Town should be embarrassed by what he did. I have never seen anything like it before. Mr Jones should resign. I was embarrassed for him." Oct 2, 09 8:08 PM

Get your eyes checked right away.
" Oct 2, 09 8:17 PM

Brian Finlayson didn't miss anything, he was standing right there with the rest of us and all the other reporters who witnessed Mr. Jones violent outburst. He should be a man and take responsibility for his actions and move on. And I hope he doesn't blame somebody else for what he did like Mrs. Kabot always seems to do. " Oct 2, 09 8:45 PM

Golfbuddy

Nice try Linda. Down the hatch." Oct 2, 09 8:49 PM

Not only shove Mr. Aube, but continued to block him from leaving." Oct 2, 09 9:54 PM

You obviously came in late. You missed the initial moments. You can say what you want. But I was there. And I'm not the only that is willing to back Mr. Aube and Mr. Gwinn. " Oct 2, 09 10:25 PM

Non-Political
The highest percent of your tax bill is the volunteer fire depts and your school tax, not the police tax. You shouldnt compare the leaf pick-up with public safety. According to you your lawn is more important to you than the safety of our familys inside of our homes. All our services are well worth what we pay, By the way is the lowest tax rate on Long Island. You pay more per year for t.v cable/satllte service than you do for police services and Hwy Dept services." Oct 3, 09 2:29 PM

Ridiculous: The PBA did offer concessions and a 2- million dollar savings to the town in overtime cutbacks and shift adjustments. Kabot refused the offer. That was offerred at prior public meetings that our community group attended. I think all groups are trying to help, even my CSEA. All this is public record. Do some homework first. P.S. So when did you get arrested or tickets that makes you so angry against our Police. " Oct 3, 09 5:48 PM

Politicians should realize that they will be critisized on occassion, it comes with the job. If they cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen. People have the right to speak out, wether for or against. Mr. jones should take responsibilty for a bad moment and move on and Mrs Kabot should move on as well. When this budget crises is over, we should all get together at "Magic's" pub and have a couple of shots. Again.

Kabot's proposed $78 million budget will eliminate 48 town jobs next year

You wouldnt be saying good job Linda if it were you getting fired from your job at the hands of her financial mismanagement. You say she has changed your mind. She is punishing 50 families and thats what chenged you mind. Its easy to strike a line through fifty names to save the Town money. Its not easy to be creative enough to save these jobs and find an alternative for tax savings. She took the easy way out. She always does when times get tough. She did her best, but she is over heard head. Time for a change. And I hope you can sleep at night deKooning, you are selfish and heartless. And obviously has a relationship with Kabot. I hope you dont lose your job. We'll see how tough you are then and suppotive of your bosses decision to do so. Get real. " Oct 7, 09 1:40 PM

Westhampton Beach has nearly burned through its budget for labor attorney fees

I find it funny that you have a very short memory because I don't remember you complaining when you made this police salary. What do you think we are stupid, everybody knows who you are NORTH OF HIGHWAY: former badge #...., what you should be called is a fake, phony and you were a lazy cop when you served the Town of Southampton. From what I remember with your people skills, the only thing you can do to supplement your pension is to shovel dog crap. Happy Holidays!!" Dec 10, 09 3:17 PM

Lt. William Hughes named Republican nominee for vacant Southampton Town Board seat

From what I understand he is a hard core PBA member and a founding member of the new high ranking union which are asking for ridiculous raises even in the state of this economy. Know he will get a pension with our money he will get salary and benefits as a board member. This is just another way for the cops to get to the inside and have a grip on our wallets. The PBA must be kidding me if they think the public will vote this man into office. I'm sure we will see him come out and say he will fight the PBA, be objective and because he is a resident he will do the right thing. He will say this know even though for the last 30 years he reaped all the perks and didn't say anything then while our families taxes went up. I would like to see him tell fellow co-workers that they can't have their raises and benefits and then have him give back all his. In the paper this week, he says he knows were the perks are, well he sure didnt tell anybody in his career." Jan 14, 10 2:42 PM

Actually Tim, he would get approximately $108K after retiring and only be state taxed, then double dip and get a $60k salary from the town for his new position. So if we do the math he just got a huge pay raise or otherwise known as a "perk"" Jan 14, 10 4:33 PM

Hey US CItizen, what does being a police officer have to do with the running this town. The guy reped the benefits and his hand is still out for more while me and my family are struggling to pay our bills!" Jan 14, 10 4:35 PM

When does it make a difference? When residents of this town cant find work and are having trouble making their mortgage payments! How about Mayor Bloomberg, only takes a $1. Me and my family are struggling, so yeah it makes a difference as he makes well over $100K a year in a pension." Jan 14, 10 7:18 PM

Okay, I will take your advice and base it upon the facts so far. You stated he is a tri-athlete and we know he will make over $100K a year. Looks great so far. " Jan 14, 10 7:32 PM

Questions are raised over Town Board candidate's fund-raising restrictions

I think the added problem is the fact that he is still employed by town, receiving his pay while running his campaign. The state might not care under their laws but what about local town laws? What about town ethics? Its nice to see he is retiring as he says on March 8th a day before the election; why not already retire? Why do we the taxpayers have to pay for him to stand around and handout flyers saying what a great guy he is? " Feb 3, 10 7:18 PM

Southampton Town Board candidates square off in first debate

Give me a break, look what happened when Easthampton Town elected a retired Police Lieutenant. 30 million in the hole and still sinking. Fleming has the experience and Hughes doesn't have the knowledge or experience for this job. I would like to hear Mr hughes real opininions on hiring halls and illegal immigrants. And not the political watered downed version of an answer he gave that night. "Short fuse" Hughes will surface eventually and its going to be ugly. " Feb 26, 10 7:01 PM

Southampton Town Board candidates face off in final debate

What I find interesting is that the NYS Retirement Law says a member of the Police Department can work till their 55 years old and Sergeants and above can work till their 60 years of age. So I wonder how old Lieutenant William Hughes is? And is he running for election only to supplement his enormous pension or is it a true calling of service that he is stating? Short fuse Hughes will be revealed soon!!" Feb 28, 10 9:21 AM

Bridget Fleming wins vacant Southampton Town Board seat

Terry: Knew she would win. You are the kiss of death when supporting a political candidate. Thanks for your help in aligning yourself with Hughes. Love, the free world." Mar 10, 10 10:38 AM

Hey Hughes you have a short memory. That picture of you standing next to Kabot is sad. You turned your back on your own with your comments and actions. One thing though that you have achieved, is that you have become a politician. Congratulations, you become everything you have despised." Mar 10, 10 10:42 AM

Southampton Town negotiations with PBA advance

Let me get this straight. In the first paragraph, the reporter is stating the PBA claims the 12 hours will save the town millions and the town isn't trying to do an experiment with it? My friend tells me the police department is looking to hire more police officers to replace the ones that recently retired. I wonder if the PBA is looking for the town to replace officers or can the 12 hour tours work without hiring anymore officers?" Apr 7, 10 8:08 PM

Officer makes charges of favoritism in Westhampton Beach PBA

Officer Cunneen was hurt doing his job and has always had a great reputation inside and outside his department. And is respected by adjoing police departments. Just because that depatment is a disaster don't thrpow evetyone in the pile. It is no coinsidence that the department has gone down hill since the hiring of dean. And as far as the Mcmannus gun situation, could have been handled internally and is not what it has been made to be. Chief Dean inexperience as a leader really came to light not being to handle just a small situation that has become big news in his clam digger force. He is the face of that department and it has a lost look on it. As far as PBA Jeff Spear, he doesn't know what he is doing. he can't defend himself never mind his members and their family's. next time he goes to by new police equipment, maybe he can also purchase some balls. Shut the place down Westhampton, save money hire the Town Police. " Jun 16, 10 11:48 PM

Southampton Town Board Fails To Appoint New Police Chief

Tenaglia should get the job. He is a union leader (President) and the police supervisors need a pay raise. They put their lives on the line every day. He is just the guy to get it for them. That is why he founded the superior officers union, they were getting short changed and I agree. And just because he interviewed in recent past for the Police Chiefs Jobs at Southampton Village and East Quogue and didn't get it shouldn't be held against him. If he gets promoted, so what if the entire department will be unhappy, they get paid to do a job its not always about liking where you work. So back off the man and let him in. " Apr 16, 11 7:04 PM

Hay jimmyk ease up dont blow it for the guy. Your to obvious. Put more butter are your head next time and then you may get it out of the mans ass." Apr 16, 11 7:11 PM

Think it is sad to think that after all these years with the police department this is CaptainTenaglia's legacy. One of dislike, bullying, and an ego bigger than his problems. That fact that no one supports this man is an obvious vote of no confidence by the rank and file of that department. What politician would ever get behind him now. It would be a death wish for there future political career, and alot of continued fighting and lawsuits for that department. Bring in Bratton, he's the only one who could do the job." Apr 18, 11 4:11 PM

Hey JimmyK, u wouldn't happen to be Jimmy Kiernan of the police department and the republican party, would you. To obvious again. Heard u would be up for a lieutenants promotion should Captain Tenaglia be made Chief. I feel sad for you. How do you look in the mirror every morning. Tell Nuzzi and Gabrowski at your next meeting of the minds to just do their jobs for the Town and not for you ! " Apr 18, 11 4:16 PM

Town Police Chief Appointment May Be Clouded By Politics

Bottom line is the best person for the job. Just because someone is at one place for many years does not entiltle that person to anything. The fact that no one really has come out from the Southampton Town Police Department to support Tenaglia for the job is truely telling. And not to mention the only people recently to come out with letters to the editor, were Chris Broiche, who was fired from the Southampton Village Police Department after 19 years of service for conduct fire-able. The other, Marrietta Seaman, who shouldn't be endorsing any cop considering her family history with cops be fired for far more serious conduct. Outside of those two, no one has stepped forward for the man. That truely says everything. The silence is absolutley deafening. Its obvious that the man is no leader and the place has no respect for him. Not shocking considering the way he has conducted himself and treated others during his abusive time as an administrater. Let that place turn the page and move on. " Apr 21, 11 4:33 PM

Your right thats why it cant be Tenaglia. He hasn't paid his dues, hopefully he'll pay them now and be exposed for the person he is known as. An abusive, ego maniac that loves himself and treats who all work with him with no respect. He is known to be a bully and one who is not respected at his own Department as well as the Law Enforcement community throughout the County. And from what Im told they don't have a SWAT team. I was told it is like a paint ball club for the elderly. " Apr 21, 11 4:47 PM

Hey Reg Rep, nice try. Deflect the attention from who you are. You see, you hide behind this website like the wizard of Oz. But let me tell you, that you have given yourself a false sense of security if you don't think everyone doesn't know who you are. Cut he cord from the man and try being one yourself. There has to be something more interesting in Southampton Town more than which clam digger is going to get the top spot in our little world. With all the crisis around the world, you people are sad. I just couldn't help winding you up just one more time duesch." Apr 23, 11 7:40 PM

Southampton Town Board Fails To Appoint New Police Chief

JIMMYK - So how did he know these were posted. Just passing through 27 East one night. Come on, give us a break. You Republicans are priceless. Always thinking your above everyone else and for some reason thinking your smarter. And by the way, this is not me typing this, I don't know how this happened." Apr 23, 11 7:49 PM

Southampton Town Board Appoints Wilson As Police Chief

HEY REG REP why are you so interested in everbodies sex life? And about their pets and friendships in our small town. Do yourself a favor worry about your own life as you try to recover and why your at it by a new pack of D cells and try to put a smile on that bitter beer mug of yours. See you at magics cheerleader." Apr 30, 11 5:35 PM

Oshaunessesy have another cocktail you have no idea what talking about. Don't pretend you know the man. How come the law enforcement community did not come out for the man. Not even just one. Not one. And once again check the archives. Not even close to a perfect past. Not close. God bless, good night, and get a hobby. " Apr 30, 11 9:58 PM

Nancy Gabrowski voting no is no surprise. The only real surprise is that she is saying or doing anything at all as just another puppet for the republican party. Playing it tough because she is leaving. If she had to run again she would be saying and doing nothing like she has always done. Good bye and good riddens dusty. " May 2, 11 3:50 PM

Captain Tenaglia had no support there, because he had none from law enforcement. And where was Chief Overton if he truly was pulling for the man. If there was a public forum announced and Captain Tenaglia was to have his supporters there, you would here a pin drop, or worse yet Marietta Seaman's nasty mouth barking out miss-information about the man again. Who wrote that for that mummified women anyway. She seemed awful emotional. Is there more there to that. Anyway, by now she is back on the auto train back to Boca, her and her dusty wallet. Boy time hasn't changed her miserable attitude towards people. Reminds me of the night many years ago at the Three Aces restaurant in Hampton Bays when she shot off at the mouth about a female candidate running for the Town Board. A bit derogatory even for back then. Hopefully she is playing outdoor shuffle board with the rest of the nasty retirees at the home. " May 4, 11 6:59 PM

Hey HighHatsize, maybe you should stick your head in the oven for a while, turn up the gas and give us all a break with your outragous blogs of nonsense. Do you actually have a job, because it seems your on this thing all day. And if you do have a job, then maybe you should get a life. You and REGREP, Marietta, should get together for the early bird in Boca and then maybe a night cap in Doug Pennies room at the home." May 4, 11 7:12 PM

Alright already great family guy, we get it ! Now wipe the tears and go. You a hansome lady." May 5, 11 11:48 AM

Forces Tried To Oust Southampton Town Police Chief

Dave Gilmartin is a gentleman and a great guy, that is why it is so disapointing to hear him say there was no call made. There was and the Supervisor isn't lying. Now the good people are lying. Nuzzi and Malone are just bullies who hide behind their positions. If everyone would just do their jobs and stop jockying for future positions the people in this town just may be served honorably." Nuzzi wasnt aware of the meeting. I heard he stormed out and went to Scotto's for lunch (great food by the way) and was jumpimg around outside like a baby. This guy is a disaster. Cant do your job, then leave. Or stick with typing title search approvals or rubbing elbows with those sand and blacktop guys. Disgrace using your family as an excuse. Time for a change people - across the Board !" May 9, 12 2:20 PM

Kiernan Suspension Is Extended By Two Months

Something sounds political and fishy. Toomey stepping out and not handling it. Here we go again. Do all officers who are suspended get to keep a pay check and benefits. Sounds like a new policy for the chosen few. What happened to Town law that has been beating officers over the head by the old regime for the past 40-years. Always made an innocent man confess to a crime he did not commit. Good riddens Tenaglia, arrogant bully ! Lower ur pants too !" Jun 13, 12 10:05 PM
