Westhampton Beach Zoning Board denies plans for North Mall renovation

The developer wants a 14,000 addition as a second floor to his buildings. He is seeking a waiver of 35 parking spaces. The law requires 1 space per 200 square feet which for 35 spaces equals 7,000 Square feet. Therefore the developer wants to build a 14,000 square foot addition without providing any parking for 7,000 SF of it.
How many times has the Village ever allowed a 7,000 SF building to be built without providing any parking? Rite Aide is a 9,000 SF building for comparison.

Point well taken William Rodney, but the synagogue isn't a commercial building and doesn't operate 7 days a week." Oct 20, 09 3:43 PM

Let me backtrack and say your first point was overstated, as I doubt that the synagogue building, by itself, is 7,000 square feet. And the answer to your "so what?" comment is obvious to anyone who has ever been at a strip mall like the North Mall. " Oct 21, 09 12:26 PM

WR- Absolutely right. I think we may have been "talking" at cross-purposes here. Seems like we are in complete agreement - requirements of the Village code should be met!" Oct 22, 09 4:38 PM

Mayor Teller: Another Westhampton Beach police officer faces disciplinary charges

We can thank Tucker, Levan and Kammetler again for this additional mess with the Police. Tucker has been police liason to the Police Department for 2 years, and during that time has meddled in the Police Department so much that police officers who should be charged for substantial misdeeds are being let off the hook, while the rest of us are suppose to follow the law and rules and regulations that apply to us.

Tucker also has been the architect of passing 5 illegal resolutions demanding confidential information on pending criminal cases that the Board has absolutely no right to, and it would be a violation of Civil Service Law to release this information. The sad part is they know all of this, but continue to break the law.

Now there are police officers who don’t even think they must follow any orders at least according to ex-cop Fred Hager who said so at the last Board meeting . The police are accountable to no one, again, the work of Tucker and his cohorts. When have we had enough? Tucker and his group have violated law, they refuse to even show up at meetings when they don’t like to address these issues, and they have most importantly have violated the public trust. Village government has never been at its lowest, which is exactly where Tucker and Palmer should be when the final votes are counted in the Village election on June 18th.

Westhampton Beach Village tables disciplinary hearings again; former police officer blasts mayor, police chief

What more information Indeed! Mayor wanna-be Tucker called for an independent Suffolk County Internal Affairs Investigation respecting a police officers missing firearm. He does so because he did not trust an internal investigation.

An extensive investigation was undertaken, resulting in a confirmation of substantial misconduct against certain officers. Does Tucker and his Board’s cohorts, Levan and Kammetler proceed to conduct a hearing that would either clear the names of the officers or find that the charges are true? No. Tucker and his co-conspirators illegally mandated that the charges be dismissed without a hearing-- So much for the Rule of Law.

Now that there was no hearing, the officers were free to suit the Village (which they did) saying they were injured by the “baseless” charges. This would not have been possible if the hearings would have taken place. This will be a substantially costly mistake for the taxpayers.

Also, Tucker was police liaison to the Village for the past 1 or 2 years. During that time he totally failed to even attempt to negotiate a contract with the police which expired 2 years ago. Most likely he has promised them that if he is elected Mayor he will give them a sweetheart deal like nothing they ever imagined. And yes, the new contract would be retroactive to two years previous. During the time that Tucker was police liaison to the Board, he never spoke to the Chief ONE TIME respecting the department. Now the police officers refuse to obey even the simplest orders.

Tucker’s meddling with the Police Department has all but destroyed any semblance of order it once had. But Tucker can’t take all the credit. He would not have been able to reach such a high level of incompetence and malfeasance with out the eager assistance of Trustees Joan Levan and James Kammetler. Kammetler gets to get even with the chief because Kammetler was forced to either resign or face disciplinary charges. Just like the outraged ex-cop Fred Hager. He likewise was forced to either resign or face disciplinary charges. Why are we listening to these people? How much more of this do the residents of the Village have to endure? It’s bad enough that we have to deal with Tucker as a trustee for another year. But to elect him Mayor is insanity.

Five candidates are running for office in Westhampton Beach Village

This is a critically important day for people in the Village of WHB to get to the polling place and vote for the entire slate of the Village Unity Party - Conrad Teller, Toni Birk and Sue Farrell. This Village has never gone through the kind of circus that has been conducted at the whim of Tucker, Levan and Kametler. These 3 trustees have acted like selfish, spoiled children who can't have their way and so must destroy everything around them in as ugly a fashion as possible. Its time residents put an end to this - and past time for a petition to have Tucker and Levan removed from office. " Jun 18, 10 12:13 PM

Attorney Asks For $70 Million Judgment Against Southampton Town

This an example of a this women's lawyers attempting to get as much press as possible, knowing full well that no Judge is going to issue a default judgment for 70 million because the town filed a late answer. At most the judge may require the town to pay sanctions for the late filing, but even that is almost inconceivable.

The question before the Court is how is this women prejudiced? None. Is there a reasonable excuse for the late filing? Yes. Is there merit to the defense? Of course.

The Woman's law firm should have accepted the late answer, but here is a way for the firm to get cheap advertisement, and also a way for a politician to make hay when the chance of winning the motion for default is about 1 out of 70 million.

Westhampton Beach Village Audit Report Still A Point Of Contention Among Board Members

As usual Publius, pundits like you and "Realistic" distort facts to support your ill chosen, mentally challenged political cronies. History has shown that whenever Hank Tucker is part of a majority of the Board, controversy, irrationality and idiocy soon follows.

Who can forget when Hank Tucker called for a Suffolk County Internal Affairs investigation of an incident respecting the theft of a police officers gun. After IA identified the alledged guilty officers, Tucker with his “Troika”cohorts, Joan Levan and James Kammetler then refused to conduct hearings to either discipline or acquit the officers or should I say officer. They passed illegal resolutions to bury the truth from coming forward , and apart from ripping this Village apart and making this Village a laughing stock of the East End, Tucker cost this Village hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Finally, a rational majority was elected and the matter was dealt with efficiently, resulting in forcing a bad cop to resign. The Village then returned to a balanced, smooth running, Village.

Enter Tucker II, and history repeats itself, but this time in the form of Tucker making wild, libelous, outrageous allegations that some how the Village Clerk and Mayor made “illict deals,” with others. Conveniently, Tucker and his flaky counterparts, Pat Di Bennedetto and Charles Palmer have refused to disclose any support whatsoever for these preposterous accusations.

There has been three audits, and like Trustee Ralph Urban said, they all concluded that other than minor mistakes which occur in every municipality, There was nothing untoward.

Stop trying to mitigate the irresponsible, no vitriolic, conduct of Tucker by suggesting a mild definition of “illicit”, Publius. Even you are not that much of a huckster. This has to be the worst Board in the history of this Village, even worst then the “Troika” Board of Tucker I.

The residents of this Village have an opportunity this spring to remove the most hateful, irrational Trustees ever to darken Village Hall, Tucker and DiBennedetto.. If the residents of this Village have any care at all about this Village, residents should step up to run for office and remove the present blight of governance.
" Apr 12, 13 8:31 PM

Distort on, Publius. Please, distort on. It publicly renders your vacuous opinions as worthless as they should be seen for. In other words, anyone who can distort my own words, let alone urging non-existing facts about Village government, should not be listened to at all.

First, any reference that I have made about former P. O. Fred Hager was derisive in nature and hardly used as authority to support any position that I had (e.g. What More Information Indeed? - 2010). Assuming you even took the time to read the entry, what was said, Publius was:

“Tucker’s meddling with the Police Department has all but destroyed any semblance of order it once had. But Tucker can’t take all the credit. He would not have been able to reach such a high level of incompetence and malfeasance with out the eager assistance of Trustees Joan Levan and James Kammetler. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with Tucker as a trustee for another year, but to elect him Mayor is insanity.”

Oops! Sorry Publius, got that one wrong.

Secondly, where do you get the information that a village employee was improperly paid after “she should have been off of the Village payroll?” I assume you are talking about the former Building Department secretary Susan O’Rourke who was dying of brain cancer for one and a half months.

Setting aside your callous disregard of a tragic event, did you see the Civil Service Employee’s Contract covering her? Did you reach this opinion after speaking with Village labor counsel.” Or did you reach this conclusion after speaking with the Levan/Tucker/Di Benedetto/Palmer Cartel, the one you seem to obtain all of your intentional misinformation from, the one that you would defend regardless of the caustic disinformation that it and you spew.

Your statement of the facts of the “gun” disciplinary events is shockingly incorrect. Your indictment of the Mayor and Village Clerk for minor errors, which according to N. Y. State Comptroller occur in all municipalities, is on par with your obviously partisan views.

Mayor Teller may not be perfect, but he is far better than the present cabal destroying this Village, or for that matter, you.

Fourth Westhampton Free Library Trustee Resigns

The call from the board to seek resumes from the community to create a pool of individuals from which THE BOARD would choose board members is a ruse. The taxpayers should choose board members whose terms expire, and the board can choose members for the board if vacancies occur. This is an electoral selection process like the school board and like 13 of 19 similar association libraries like the Westhampton Free Library. The struggle must continue." Nov 20, 15 10:26 AM

Westhampton Library Board, Residents Exchange Barbs Over Vote To Keep Appointed Members

Why don't you get over yourself, and your sanctimony? you should be ashamed of yourself and the actions of the board at the last meeting. Every time anyone questioned the decisions, conclusions or actions of the board, they were met with sarcasm, abuse or ridicule, especially by shoe banging Comrade Rosenberg. I have been a volunteer for community organizations for most of my entire adult life, and for every one that has been funded by tax dollars, they have always had an elected board. Despite the fallacious propaganda Manifesto spewed by the board, the fact remains that the tea is in the harbor, this issue is not going away, and you cannot suppress freedom so easily."
