East Hampton Town Board members walk out on budget talks

Prudence is insulting and sounds a bit dysfunctional herself. She can't win as a write-in and will be a spoiler. She has her own agenda and we don't need any more people who can't follow rules. The democrats have run a nasty campaign while the repulicans have held back from the slime. We need a team who will work together and I belileve that will be Mr. Wilkinson, Mr. Stanzione and Theres Quigley. The infighting for power will stop." Oct 27, 09 11:33 PM

One more comment. Prudence Carabine stated at a union meeting last night that not only should East Hampton Town employees take a 5% paycut, but there should be layoffs. " Oct 27, 09 11:40 PM

East Hampton Town Board write-in candidate Prudence Carabine

Ms. Carabine is definitely not a viable candidate and she does not listen to people. She is a spoiler and may let the wrong people win and our government will be the same." Nov 2, 09 12:36 AM

East Hampton Town Supervisor candidate Ben Zwirn (D,WF,CG)

Ben Zwirn has also allowed one of the dirtiest campaigns this year. He says he doesn't approve , but he's like Bill McGintee. Let's everyone do his dirty work for him. God help us if he is elected." Nov 2, 09 12:40 AM

East Hampton Town Board candidate Dominick Stanzione (R,I,C,WF)

I read all the papers and what a dirty campaign the Democrats have used against Mr. Stanzione. This is one Democrat that will vote for him. He seems very sincere in his work for the town unlike all the board members who can't seem to get it together." Nov 2, 09 12:46 AM

Bernard returns; Adams will be new East Hampton town attorney

It is wonderful that Len Bernard is back. If he had been there in the last six years we wouldn't be in the fianancial difficulty we are, Bill McGintee got in office and gave all his cronies raises, including his office staff. As far as the positions on all the boards to the victors go the spoils and the democrats in the audience have done that for six years and they will do it again. Good Luck to Len Bernard and the new town board." Jan 5, 10 5:24 PM

Southampton Town Board candidate Fleming receives Independence endorsement

The Independence Party does endorse Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. I believe the different towns endorse those people who they believe can do the right job regardless of their party affiliation. Some even endorse both Democrats and Republicans in the same election. I believe the Independence party believes in good government and always has. That's why it was started in the first place. There should not be a one party rule. Look what happened in East Hampton Town.

Poxabogue restaurant faces ouster

Mr. Wankel definitely wants Mr. Murray to leave. Having liquor there should be opposed by the public and both towns. Mr. Wankel should be the one to go. In in for the profit it seems. That golf course should be left alone." Jan 25, 10 1:21 PM

East Hampton Building Inspector suspended after Sag Harbor altercation

Perhaps this was not his first offense with his temper. Don't rush to judgement that the police were wrong. There were other witnesses to the incident. Being a great success to a company does not a building inspector make. Flashing his badge was very poor judgement.

East Hampton Town councilwoman could face charges for interfering in arrest

It would have been easier to take the bloodtest if you haven't been drinking." Mar 9, 10 3:59 PM

The only employees that think Bill Wilkinson aren't being treated fairly are the ones that have broken the law or the police who aren't getting the raises they want. Most emploees think he has been fair and has not layed employees off. So if that means cutting the police department's payroll to save their jobs they should be happy making $100,000 + per year. Fairway Restaurant closed after 20 years

Fire Wankel. Boycott the restaurant. The taxpayers of East Hampton and Southampton own this property. Let's show the politicians that we don't like what they are doing. Bring back Dan" Mar 29, 10 1:27 PM

Local Tea Party movement holds two rallies on Tax Day

No increase in taxes for those making under $250,000. That's a laugh. Perhaps you should all get your facts straight. What about no cost of living increase for the Senior citizens. What about raises in medicare insurance. They tax just about everything we buy. They even now want to tax flavored water and there are fees charged for everything we do and there will be increases. We're not just talking about income taxes. We're talking about waste in government and pork barrel spending. I make under 250,000 dollars and I paid more taxes this year than I ever have in my life. The elderly paid for their Social Security and they are paying for their insurance and now Obama wants them to pay for those who don't work and pay anything. Whatever the Seniors do have they worked for. And what about school taxes, town and state taxes. They just spend, spend ,spend and taxes go up, up, and up. The government is bankrupting us." Apr 21, 10 12:12 PM

Perhaps they could start cuts with Hillary Clintons $800,000 dollars worth of glasses that they didn't put out for bid." Apr 21, 10 9:20 PM

We'll know for sure in November won't we." Apr 21, 10 9:23 PM

Start the cuts with Hillary Clintons $800,000 dollars worth of glasses, (drinking glasses) that were not put out to bid. She's blaming the State Department. How about the politicians all have the same medical they want all of us to have. Does Congress and the Senate pay Social Security like the rest of us? Why are the American people responsible for all their freebies. They all make good salaries. If waste in government including welfare fraud was addressed I wonder if that would be a good start. If you don't have it you don';t spend it.." Apr 21, 10 9:38 PM

VAT is OBAMAs way of making more taxes without tax increases in the income tax, Clever isn't he. We will pay sales TAX on EVERYTHING we buy. Anybody want to join the Tea Party now." Apr 23, 10 11:40 AM

I find it amazing that many of these comments are suggesting that we cut social security and medicare. All these SENIOR CITIZENS who do collect have worked in this country and paid their dues for these benefits. Even Socialist countries take care of their Senior Citizens. It certainly is not their fault that big government spends, spends more than we have. It is not that we collect too little taxes from anyone. It is that we spend too much money that we shouldn't spend. We don't need $800,000 worth of glasses that Hillary Clinton ordered. We don't need to spend money on Pork Barrel issues that are worthless. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Let the Congress and Senate stop spending on their freebies. Medicaid fraud is probably costing all of this country a fortune. Why should the Senior Citizens take a loss because some people live off of all of us and don't want to work. Just a few ideas and I suppport the teabaggers and proud of it. When does this runaway spending stop. When we are owned by China?

Demonstrators rally on May Day at Hook Mill for immigration reform

Immigration reform can't begin until the borders are closed. It will only encourage more to break the law. Liberal democrats see this reform as votes, in November. We cannot reward those who broke the law. My grandfather was an immigrant but he came through Ellis Island and was legal." May 5, 10 10:54 AM

East Hampton to state comptroller: No kidding. We're cutting the budget

I love Debra Foster's comments. She was on the Town Board for four years and is partly responsible for the mess we are in. If she couldn't help then what makes us think she knows what to do now. That's a laugh." May 5, 10 11:07 AM

Allegations of physical, verbal abuse target East Hampton Town highway superintendent

Mr. King won't be chuckling when the human rights division and the NAACP get involved. He is a bully and should never have been elected. The men should never be afraid to speak out because there are whistle blower laws to protect them. Also violence in the work place is not permitted. " May 26, 10 3:06 PM

There were allegations of abuse from Mr. King before the election. The night he was elected he parked his vehicle on his opponents front lawn for no reason other than to be the arrogant man he is. It seems his vicotry has gone to his head even worse. You can't lay your hands on your men." May 28, 10 10:21 AM

No jail time, fine for Hults after guilty plea; grand jury does not indict McGintee

The fact that Bill McGintee walks away doesn't mean he got away scott free. He had to resign under shame and he will be paying his lawyers for a long time. Our children will paying for a lifetime. You don't really think that Ted did it by himself? Trail mix in East Hampton must be one of McGintee's friends and that is good becauswe he doesn't have too many." Jun 21, 10 6:55 PM

Grand jury details financial disarray and disaster in East Hampton

I think at the beginning Ted Hults talked about McGintee knew about the transactions. Has anyone forgotten about the midnight phone call between the two. Why did Ted change his story is what I want to know?" Jun 24, 10 1:29 PM

Could it be possible that it funded Daytons' Island that sand pile in three mile harbor that the owners couldn't sell to anyone. East Hampton Town under McGintee paid 3.8 milllion dollars for it." Jun 24, 10 1:32 PM

No jail time, fine for Hults after guilty plea; grand jury does not indict McGintee

There is I believe another way to charge Mr. McGintee. A taxpayers lawsuit against him for malfeasance. A class action suit by many of the taxpayers of East Hampton. Ted Hults was the scapegoat for this mess. McGintee is laughing at all of us." Jun 25, 10 1:32 PM

McGintee to sue Town of East Hampton

Springs girl is probably McGintee's daughter. The problem is that Bill told us all back in 2007 that he had asked the Comptroller if it was ok to use community preservation funds and told us that the comptroller said it was ok. There is no way that Ted Hults could have pulled this off by himself. The employees knew that Bill was doing what he was doing and yet he didn't know. And besides innocent men don't resign from his position. He thinks that we should pay for a criminal investigation. I think in the end he will have to pay himself." Aug 9, 10 8:30 PM

Could it be that Bill McGintee was so determined to change the Town's employee insurance to Cook Hall and Hyde because he has friends there to help get his legal fees paid? He was determined from the very beginning. In his letter of resignation he accepted responsibility for all that happened. Don't know how he can now claim to be innocent. He is a disgusting human being who in the end will pay. What comes around goes around." Aug 9, 10 8:41 PM

Bill's main man sure sounds like Bill. And believe me Bill McGintee will get what is coming to him in the end. God will see to that. He is a vindictive, manipulative man who used everyone, even members of his own police department. Rats crawl around at night." Aug 12, 10 7:20 PM

The big queston cruiser is "does it cover civil lawsuits only or will it cover a criminal investigation, And you know something has anybody here ever read anything in any newspaper defending McGintee except from his family, during the last year. I know I haven't. He has few friends in this town and I heard he has a hard time going out to dinner with his wife. Too bad Bill you really didn't win anything. The poor sucker Ted Hults was the patsy.
