Dr. Chris Gobler Shares Opinion, Concerns Over 'The Hills' Proposal

DLC is in denial about the environmental laws already in existence that will prevent 118 homes from being built. SEQRA? Not to mention the Suffolk County and Southampton plans to impose costly new septic rules in 2017. How can Mr. Hissey continue to threaten with 118 homes when he knows that can never happen. Disingenuous to say the least." Apr 30, 17 12:20 PM

Dr. Chris Gobler Shares Opinion, Concerns Over 'The Hills' Proposal

Did you ever hear of getting a second medical opinion? It does not mean going to a barber for blood letting, nor does it necessarily impugn the reputation of the first doctor. Different professionals have different opinions based on their educational and professional experiences. It is the intelligent thing to do and the patient gets to decide which doctor to go with. In the case of the Hills, we must consider all professional scientific opinions and IMO, not risk the dangers to our environment that we are warned of by Bob DeLuca and the Group for the East End and Dr. Gobler and his associates. Yes, this is a PRIVATE golf course, not for public use. How is that a public benefit? " May 8, 17 11:20 AM

VOS: How can regrading 166.86 acres (28.23%) of the property not invlove razing the pine barrens? Yes I can and DO read. Personal attacks of your critics do not change the facts. See page S-9 of the DEIS: "Topography - Planned grading of strategic locations of the site will be necessary to provide
appropriate and stable surface areas to allow development of the proposed project. In addition, construction of the golf course will utilize existing topography to the greatest extent practicable to limit impacts related to slopes and create a challenging environment for golf play. Overall, it is anticipated that 166.86 acres (28.23%) of the subject property will be subject to grading
operations." " May 9, 17 10:33 AM

Unbelievable. Is the request from the town for a FEIS a given????? REJECT THE PDD NOW AND END THIS FIASCO. Do we need an election in November for a new town board whose election campaigns will surely be funded by DLC????? Does the one with the gold always win?" May 10, 17 10:48 AM

'Hills' Opponents Protest Outside Of Southampton Town Hall Monday

Do we want nukes in EQ or not? November's election this year will be decided on one issue. Pesticides will be applied and supposedly will be contained by a liner under the greens. Really? We need more specific info on the pesticides, how they're applied and what happens to them afterwards. Will they build up in the soil forever? Leach eventually into groundwater? Questions the developer doesn't properly answer, they just deflect with promises." May 16, 17 9:55 AM

Then this is NOT YOUR COUNTRY. You sir are the traitor, attempting to obstruct the constitutionally elected government of the USA. Maybe you should go to the socialist country of Venezuela. Don't forget to bring food since people are starving there." May 17, 17 11:14 AM

Attempting to obstruct our constitutionally elected government is traitorous. Has nothing to do with who you voted for. You see what you want to see and disgregard the rest. Every official in authority has stated that there is no proof linking Trump or his campaign to Russia, and yet they continue to look with no evidence whatsoever. HRC and her cohorts are the ones who should be under investigation. We are not done with her yet, and the truth will win out. Then we shall see what you have to say. Quit worshiping a powerless candidate who didn't even deserve the nomination after stealing it from Bernie. Dictatorship is alive and well in the democratic party." May 17, 17 12:11 PM

Southampton Supervisor Reverses Course, Seeks To Throw Out PDD Law Without Replacing It

Well said Mr. Havemeyer. DLC is procrastinating because they know they don't have the votes. They are a highly experienced developer with mega bucks and highly paid consultants, yet they needed 4 attempts at a DEIS before they got it accepted? A deadline of May 15 was 45 days after the comment period ended on 4/1 and the FEIS should be ready. Now they "hope" it will be ready at the end of the month. And if it is "incomplete" it will be bounced back to them for yet another try to get it right. A FEIS is a Final Environmental Impact Statement. What is it about the words "deadline" and "final" they don't understand? If this goes forward into election season we must activate and motivate anti Hills candidates for the board to prevent DLC from doing the same with pro Hills candidates. IMO this is their plan so they can get the votes for the PDD with a new board after the election. Game on." May 18, 17 10:40 AM

The PESTICIDES are the elephant in the room. They will be SPRAYED (airborne) over the golf course before they even get to the grass! Right next to the school. Workers wear hazmat suits during application. Parents, are you listening? Lower school taxes in exchange for exposing your kids to pesticides. " May 23, 17 2:42 PM

PESTICIDES are killers, no matter how classified. We had a PhD in Organic Chemistry and professor of Chemistry and environmental science speak at some of our Town hearings on the Hills warning us of the dangers. A written analysis was submitted as well concluding that "approval of this change of zone is serioulsy ill-advised." Google any of the pesticides listed below from the 4th DEIS and tell me you would not fear your children being exposed to them: "The January 2015 and March 2016 versions of the ITHMP offered an initial list of
NYSDEC registered pesticides permitted for use on golf courses in Suffolk County with
potential for use at the Hills golf course. In response to the July 1, 2015 Final Scope for the
environmental impact statement, a screening technique was required to further refine potential
pesticide selection. The approach used the Pesticide Root Zone model (PRZM-3) as a primary
determinant for pesticide fate in the root zone and leaching potential and the Field Environmental
Impact Quotient (FEIQ) for assessment of risk/toxicity of a pesticide over time. The original list
of pesticides from the January 2015 ITHMP which exhibited low leaching potential is shown in
Table 1.

PESTICIDES are Toxic, and those working with them, around them and applying them wear hazmet suits. PERIOD. Enough said. They are applied to the turf by SPRAYING them thorugh large machines, making them airborne in our windy hamlet before they hit the ground. Then the equipment applying the pesticides need to be cleaned. If they have such " low potential for leaching" then why do their dangers need to be mitigated? See DEIS Integrated Turf Health Management Plan pages 26-27: "Turf Management Facility:
The turf management facility will occupy approximately 20,000 square feet within the golf course facilities. The facility will be equipped with SCDHS Article XII approvable pesticide storage building and above ground fuel tanks that shall be in compliance with SCDHS, NFPA and local Fire Codes and NYSDEC permitting regulations. Fertilizers, other plant nutrients and plant bio-stimulants will be stored in a building and separated from the pesticide storage and
mixing facilities. These nutrient products will be maintained in a building constructed with a Integrated Turf Health Management Plan for the Hills at Southampton, East Quogue, NY. 27 East Quogue Golf Corporation
concrete floor, with no floor drains, whereby the products are completely sheltered from the weather. The maintenance area will include an equipment wash-down pad where wash water will be captured, treated and recycled. This equipment (Appendix 8) is currently in use on New York golf courses and is manufactured and supplied by EDS. After washing equipment, a series of
settling tanks remove solids (soil, grass clippings), cyclones reduce particulate matter, and carbon activated filters clean the wash water prior to water reuse. Solids from the wash water treatment system are collected from the tanks, removed to a secure temporary storage area, placed on an impermeable surface, and covered with plastic sheets to minimize runoff. The wash down solids are transported off site and disposed of at an approved NYSDEC solid waste facility. The Hills will also utilize the EDS chemical pad and collection system for turf sprayer wash out and recovery. The State’s BMP for golf courses cites the importance of turf management facilities as emergency response centers for accidental spills of fuels and chemicals.
Typical facilities provide staff break rooms, locker rooms, mechanical repair/parts areas, soil and sand topdressing storage areas, equipment warehousing and act as informational centers for turf employee records, OSHA and MSDS and turf related communications"

Still no statement re your relationship as/to developer. Gee, I wonder why." May 29, 17 1:48 PM

Gee, why does it need to be "captured and removed" if it is so safe? You fail to see your own contradictions. BTW, accidents happen (spills, etc.) during capture and removal, so the risk is at the Hills and its environs." May 30, 17 10:22 AM
