Monday Drive-In Movie At Coopers Beach Postponed Until Tuesday Due To Inclement Weather

To all the weather followers out there: how'd the postponement work out?" Jul 24, 12 11:48 PM

Judge Dismisses All Charges In Fatal East Quogue Crash

Isn't it somewhat ironic that the suggestion is to "learn the basics.... writting a report."?" Jul 26, 12 10:44 PM

UPDATE: County Road 39 Reopens Six Hours After Crash

Well, all the champions of the universe were late getting home for dinner. How does the State Police dare do such a thing?" Jul 26, 12 11:37 PM

Motorist Beaten By Three Women In Bathing Suits During Traffic Jam

Really? I think if they were wearing tuxedos or clown shoes the article would have mentioned them also." Jul 27, 12 11:49 PM

Rumba Owners Are Trying To Walk A Fine Line

Why should offsite parking combined with a shuttle NOT be a viable remedy...unless we are simply looking to punish a business? Quite a lot of business punishing has gone on in decades past by past town boards and supervisors. Maybe that's part of the reason we have so many empty commercial properties." Jul 28, 12 11:57 PM

Head-On County Road 39 Crash Backs Up Traffic For More Than Six Hours

If you were a terrorist you would have blown yourself up in your own underwear due to your simple inability to read. The State Police were in charge of the investigation, not the town police. This was by no means a minor accident. As a taxpayer, you may be entitled to a reassessment but you can't read the forms. Until I get some inside information to the contrary, I will believe that there were legitimate reasons for handling the Water Mill case the way it was. FYI - yesterday's Easthampton accident caused a seven hour shutdown of the affected roadway." Jul 30, 12 3:42 PM

Bronx-To-Riverhead Drug Ring Busted By East End Drug Task Force

I believe it is appropriate to note here that the Southampton Town PD has been active in the East End drug task force since Chief Wilson came on board while his predecessor had no use for it, instead runnning his own street crimes unit with all its problems that we'll be paying for well into the future. Good job." Jul 31, 12 8:55 PM

Deferred Action Program Will Affect East End Dreamers

You can make all the Limbaughesque statements you want to try to bolster your arguments but when they have no basis in fact they accomplish the opposite. I have NEVER seen any of the posters you mention, or anyone else for that matter espouse "unchecked illegal immigration" on these boards. The "plan" you mention is ridiculous fear mongering at best." The employer can and should use a properly executed I-9 form. " Aug 6, 12 11:55 PM

Sagaponack, Bridgehampton Residents Propose $24 Million Beach Nourishment Project

Maybe they should get the sand from outside the 12 mile limit, would that make you happy?" Aug 6, 12 11:58 PM

Gregg Saunders, Whole Foods Developer, Lost In East Hampton Crash

Your mind does not determine the law, why so quick to extract the pound of flesh? There is an investigation ongoing and that investigation or a grand jury will determine if there was sufficient negligence to merit criminal charges." Aug 10, 12 2:18 PM

Drug Task Force Announces Felony Drug Arrest

Please tell us what you consider "recreational drugs" and if there are any drugs you would not include in the category, not control the use thereof and continue to prosecute their sale and possession." Aug 11, 12 1:14 PM

Actually, the Brock study was on the front page of msn.com the day Hat made his post - it's not hard to find." Aug 14, 12 11:39 PM

Ironic that you should use the fake Einstein quote in this thread when it actually appears to have come first from a handbook from Narcotics Anonymous in 1982 then from novelist Rita Mae Brown in 1983. I always thought your research was more accurate than this Hat. Oh, the shattered dreams of childhood." Aug 14, 12 11:50 PM

Quiogue Residents Oppose Plans For New East End Hospice Facility

I suppose Ms. Magee and her 59 narrow minded associates prefer the derelict building that has been decomposing at the site for the last twenty years. I'm sure a site plan can be devised that will put the driveway on Meeting House Lane and adequate screening left or installed so the unfortunate patients do not have to look at Magee and her neighbors." Romney Makes Second Visit To The Hamptons On Friday

"It is almost impossible to navigate daily life without a photo ID."

The only time I've needed a photo ID in the last five years was getting on a plane, us my life really that much emptier than everyone else's?

Valid ID should be required to register to vote and for confirmation at the polling place, but provisions should be made for those without photo ID's to participate without undue hardship." Aug 17, 12 11:43 PM

All those city dwellers, rural poor and senior citizens without driver's licenses have done just fine until now - how are you going to deal with their situations? You need to stop being so provincial and stop thinking that the Joe Hampton size fits all. And no, your jackassical comment about a limousine and free cigarettes does not help your argument." Aug 18, 12 1:56 AM

UPDATE: Description Released Of Man Who Fled Hampton Bays Double Stabbing

Why would you even attempt to talk about fairness when you make such an asinine generalization about Hampton Bays? Let me rephrase BB's question: Why must these few boneheads be such fools that they think it's acceptable to stab someone, with whatever object, because they're trying to impress people or themselves? I hope the sentencing judge takes into account how many innocent people just out for a night of fun, possibly including these two victims, were endangered by these punks." Aug 18, 12 2:05 PM

I don't need an update to know that thousands of people are out every week in Hampton Bays just looking to have fun. If a couple of idiots from out of town show up and tussle with a couple of other idiots from out of town and somebody gets hurt why is that a reflection on Hampton Bays? Weren't most of the identified players in the instances you mentioned from areas closer to Northampton than Hampton Bays? Odd that you want to throw stones in ignorance when your glass house already has so many broken windows." Aug 19, 12 12:18 AM

Southampton Town Councilman Says Legal Action Could Be In Rumba's Future

Hey Chief - Do you really think it's okay to make up "facts" if none exist to support your biases? Show us where there have been more than a handful fo "disorderly tickets written" over the last TEN years near the Boardy Barn and I'll meet you there and buy you all the draft beer you can handle, cover you wih happy face stickers, and have you singing "American Pie" at the top of your lungs.

Ralph also needs to get a grip, I'll bet he's never been to the Beach Bar or any of its predecessors in the past fifty years of "clean and friendly" good times yet he suggests closing it down. The town has an obligation to support businesses especially in these trying economic times as well as being responsible to neighbors. Rumba, the Beach Bar and the Boardy Barn all exist legally and the gripes of the few, who seem to have a bigger piece of the politicians' ears for whatever reason, should not outweigh the desires of the majority of the community who want thriving, diverse entertainment opportunities.

It is way past time for our elected officials to do the job they were elected to and find ways to make this work by answering to the people of the town as a whole rather than to the whims of whatever political party is insinuating itself into every part of our life." Aug 22, 12 2:14 PM

Without East Hampton Town's Help, Three Mile Harbor Mobile Home Park Will Pay To Renovate Failing Septic System

It's time for the town to write the $400,000 check and the thank you note for saving the other $200,000. The alternative is to fight it in court, lose, and end up paying both sides' legal bills, the actual cost, and punitive damages." Aug 22, 12 11:41 PM

Since the Town has represented for ten years that they would be responsible to correct the sewage problems but has failed to do so, the people of the park who have paid for the permits and work will sue the Town for nonperformance of that contract and will win. Why should these people be paying for the obligations of the town? Simply submitting a bill will not be effective, a lawsuit will. I wonder what the expense would have been ten years ago when the Town first assumed the reponsibility." Aug 23, 12 11:42 PM

Southampton Town Councilman Says Legal Action Could Be In Rumba's Future

If the very low occupancy is based on parking and alternate arrangements have been made for offsite parking and shuttle service shouldn't the occupancy be raised?" Aug 27, 12 11:58 PM

Romney Makes Second Visit To The Hamptons On Friday

Sorry, Cap, Mitch McConnell laid it all out when hesaid “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term President.” He didn't say he wanted to put people to work, bring home the troops, reduce the deficit, save Social Security or cure cancer. He chose to ignore his obligation to serve the people of the United States in favor of serving his party." Aug 30, 12 2:03 PM

The first of the "unalienable rights" cited in the Declaration of Independence is "Life" - one could make the case that what you call Obamacare is a vital step towards guaranteeing the best chance at life for everyone. We do not have government by referendum even if your opinion is that such a referendum would continue to deny medical care to tens of millions of Americans. So no, ACA is certainly NOT contrary to the sworn obligation of the president and those of both parties who have supported it.

McConnell's statement may be two years old but that certainly changes nothing about it except having had two years to prove that he and his followers have firmed their resolve to serve only their party, not the people they are sworn to." Aug 30, 12 4:42 PM

Knowing How To Play The Speeding Ticket Game

I got a ticket in the dead zone once - Quogue for allegedly speeding on Dune Rd when I drove past a cop who was stopped on the side of the road talking to someone; I thought he stopped me for crossing the double line as I went around them because I could see him a half mile away. I requested the deposition and that was a free ride, if you can call spending two or three hours in court a free ride. The man could not write a sentence in the English language! He identified me as driving a "radio car" and he got the make of my car wrong. The prosecutor made me three offers to reduce the charge until I finally told her that I had no desire to put the cop on the stand and embarrass him but I would if the charge was not thrown out completely; after making me wait another half hour she told me the judge would dosmiss the charge "in the interest of justice."" County Slaps East Hampton With Notice Of Claim Over Route 114 Drainage Project

Why is the Town responsible? Route 114 is a state highway, shouldn't the State be the entity alleviating drainage problems?" Sep 18, 12 10:37 PM
