Eastport Homeowner Is Out Nearly $3,000 After Replacing Utility Pole

I have a pole on my property, as does my next door neighbor, since our houses are both set back about 300 feet from the road. My homeowners insurance would cover replacement if it was damaged in a storm, but not due to wear / aging. I also have to pay to have tree branches near the lines pruned on a regular basis. " Jan 24, 15 1:53 PM

After looking at the pictures, it looks like the utility wires connect to the pole (and down to the meter & into the house) but then continue on, assumedly to another pole and other homes. The pole that me and my neighbor have only serve our houses, and they are far away from the road (unlike this one that is quite close). Anyway if the utility serves other than this homeowner I would suggest she file a complaint/dispute with the NY State Public Service Commission." Jan 25, 15 6:33 PM

Aviation Groups Sue East Hampton Town In Effort To Block Recently Approved Airport Restrictions

The industry really bit themselves on this one. They saw it coming -blaring them right in the face - but instead of taking reasonable steps to work with the affected communities and show good faith, even as the uproar grew daily, they doubled down, stated that there was no problem that had to be dealt with; that it was their g-d given right to fly about wherever and whenever; that the FCC would stop any action; that it will ruin the east end economy; that they would sue the town into oblivion, on and on. Ultimately they forced this on themselves and dared the town to act. Good riddance. " Apr 17, 15 3:23 PM

East Hampton Airport Curfews Will Take Effect July 2 After Judge Denies Injunction

My ears don't discern any difference between noise from "local pilots" and others. Nor does my wallet when paying taxes that subsidize airport operations and repairs. Where were the local pilots in proposing meaningful compromises for the past several years as the complaints against noise grew and strengthened?
Oh that's right, they were firmly aligned with the outside aviation interests, giving all of us the middle finger.

Provisional Westhampton Beach Police Chief Fails Civil Service Exam

I don't know if there is something extra special about a police chief position, but under NY State civil service law as long as one person has passed the test and there is at least one person serving in that title provisionally (within the test jurisdiction, in this case Suffolk Co.), the person that passes the test gets the job (if they elect to take it). The whole point of the system is to ensure that qualified people get public jobs, especially high level uniformed jobs subject to civil service rules, based on merit, as evidenced by their test scores, vs. by pure politics.

Group Will Press Town To Close East Hampton Airport

Biden flew into Gabreski last time.

Close the airport- it only panders to the few. Make it a park and trails. If the local pilots (a very small number) had gotten behind sensible traffic and noise control early on, this whole mess could have been avoided. This is headed the way of Santa Monica, another small airport taken over by jet setters and select business interests...destined to be closed because those interests wouldn't listen to reason." Helicopter Traffic Continues To Swell As East Hampton Town Seeks Options To Reduce It

The closure is now inevitable, and the local aviation interests only have themselves to blame, as they (you) did nothing over the past 10 years to assist with mitigating the noise onslaught from Blade et. al., while the community (the vast majority) made its position very clear. Now, with the calendar counting down to 2021, you're still harping on the very narrow aviation special interest without a single word to support any rational noise reduction. Better change your tune if you really want to have anything to fly to/fro. Tick tick..." Feb 6, 19 9:57 PM

1. You had every opportunity to oppose the out-of-town aviation special interest but decided to cast your lot with them, vs. the town. After all, all that outside money was making things better for you, and you could never even contemplate the town not accepting FAA cash/grants. You could easily have formed a group of local pilots in opposition to the outside interest that were creating the backlash, but decided that ANY constraint / concession was a road to ruin. Oh the irony.
2. Yes those in opposition to the airport far exceed those in favor of it. I look forward to the next LTV hearing/forum, they'll need to move it to the high school football field to accommodate all those in favor of closing!
3. It isn't YOUR airport ("us little local pilots"). It is as much mine as yours.

Last, you are, without doubt, the worst advocate the local pilots could have.
