It is great that we live in a time when people consider all the implications so keep it up everyone..the more discussion the better as long as we stick to the point ,which is the effect on the enviroment (including the view) and skip the personal angle." Dec 27, 09 1:35 PM
What kind of engineer is Paul DeMaria? I tried googling him and only came up with refences to this article and one in another local paper.
Anyway it once again seems to be a waste of time voting in Southampton-the political in-crowd run the town to suit themselves and give jobs to their cronies." Jan 12, 10 11:12 AM
If two guys were doing this it would be power play- if it is two women it is cat fight. That says something about the writers of these comments.
Do we care who caused the mess? It is done- now get on and improve things so those of us on a fixed income do not have to sell up and move out......" Jan 22, 10 7:08 AM
To change the subject. Can we suggest our own characters? For example -the surgeon who openly boasts that he never uses licensed landscapers as it costs more; the lady who always 'forgets ' to bring her checkbook from the City, so the house cleaner will have to wait to get paid 'next week'; the homeowner who wants the contractor to do just one more little job then goes into a rage when the bill is higher than the estimate....-I am sure talented local writers can think of many more. thank you highhatsize for your very true observations.
The people I have met on section8 would love to be independent .The properties are inspected, and the property owner has to bring everything up to code..
Unfortunately most going jobs pay mimimum wage and rents are at ridiculous levels due to the high cost of houses, and many have no choice.
It is not fair to expect people to move away from their families and friends just when they need help and support in a time of economic downturn caused by wealthy bankers and financiers.
This is not being a bleeding heart- it is being a normal ,caring member of the human race. " Feb 7, 10 6:56 PM
when all the local fishermen are gone we will be able to eat yummy farm-raised ,antibiotic filled fish from overseas. So -go vegetarian..oh no.... all the farms are growing houses, so we can buy pesticide laden fruit and veggies from overseas too...

Diane S. ,this is a travesty of justice but we shoud not wish harm to the Judges's family - iit is not their fault that the he is irresponsible, and cannot do his job properly. Also blame the DA's office, who could not be bothered to do their job properly and came up with this plea bargain. I hope they all have sleepless nights worrying about will happen in 6 months when she is on the road again. Hope their kids or grandchildren are not riding bikes round here.." May 28, 10 9:45 AM
How do we get rid of the DA and the Judge? There has to be some way.
What about her kid, growing up having seen his mother kill someone? Who has custody? I hope they are not telling him it is not her fault because it WAS and he/she is lucky he/she is not the one deadn and I hope they say that, but they will probably try to hide it.
DRUNK DRIVERS NEED TO BE OFF THE ROAD PERMANENTLY- as soon as she is out and has had a few drinks she will drive licemse or not.
Southampton Press - at election time PLEASE bring this up for the sake of all kids in the area.

Let us also show our appreciation for the speedy response of North Sea Fire Dept. Yesterday it was a car hitting an electric pole on Noyac Rd, today a plane in the bay. These volunteers are the best !" Jun 17, 10 9:20 PM
It would be nice to have another supermarket somewhere, big enough to let carts pass in the aisle and to allow time to check prices without blocking the traffic flow in the whole store. I have nothing against the helpful staff at our only Southamton supermarket but shopping there is a nightmare in Summer.

Who cares except the company with the contract to make new signs? (Maybe his friends and family could pay as a memorial.)
What don't the Suffolk County legislators understand about unecessary spending? People will still just call it 'The Highway' anyway.

She swerved over the double yellow line.Could have been drunk, on prescribed meds, talking on cell phone or just tired, Who cares? She needed to be stopped before she had an accident and hurt herself or someone else..it's that simple. " Feb 3, 11 9:57 PM
Wouldn't it be cheaper to build restrooms and pay an attendant to care for the building and have an emergency line to call the police only if there was a problem(drug use for example)?
If the owners of the " for customer use only" stores and the people who run the Village had to take water tabs for high blood pressure they might be a little more sensitive.
I don't see why 7-11 corporate branch thinks it is attractive to have a smelly parking lot- surely the portable toilets were better than that! (Maybe they should downsize their drinks.)

What if you just want it online?" Feb 26, 11 8:12 AM
Sorry to be an old grouch , but the first part of the Parade is a tribute to Veterans and Armed Forces, and I think it is very conceited to think grabbing free advertising comes ahead of that.Obviously these young people have no respect for their country and what Independence Day is really about. " Jul 5, 11 8:22 AM
Grabbing free advertising is being creative, different and interesting?
Contact the parade organisers for a place in the like the dance troups, the local bands, the Samba drummers, youth associations etc.
I have nothing against entertainment, just bad manners- I still think the people who serve our Country deserve the first place.
Anyway it worked- SouthamptonPress is giving you free advertising as well, so you must be be very proud." Jul 5, 11 10:44 AM
