Restaurants Face Pet Owners Who Say They Need Emotional Support

I see no difference between a service dog, a companion dog, or a beloved pet. A dog is a dog. Most decent people treat their dog as part of their family. I find it odd no one is allergic to a service dog. Perhaps because they remind you of how lucky you are. I'd rather have a dog sitting next to me as opposed to a screaming child throwing food across the room. NO ONE has the right, under ADA, to ask a person with a service dog what their issue is or for proof their dog is certified. I have an assist dog. She was not trained, as she instinctively knew from day one when I was having a panic attack. It's amazing what a dog can sense. I take her with me wherever I go. If I see someone turning their nose up, I will leave, as I - unlike others - have respect for everyone's feelings. " Aug 16, 18 1:44 PM

You are correct, which is why I always ask if my dog is allowed under their policy, making it clear she is not a service dog, and even asking to be seated far from everyone else so as to not disturb anyone. What I find heart-warming is, 9 times out of 10, the restaurant help makes a fuss over her, bringing her water & playing with her, and other patrons even ask to be seated next to me and my dog. We all need to learn how to get along - life is too short. Is that little puppy sitting two tables away for one hour in your life really worth complaining about? " Aug 16, 18 3:36 PM

DEC Orders All Mining Activity At Sand Land To End

It's about time! This site is not pre-existing - check aerial photos. This owner has blatantly disregarded the rules of the DEC, the County and the Town. That there are now McMansions surrounding this site is not the issue. The issue is what is UNDER the site OUR groundwater! Time to protect it for EVERYONE'S sake. P.S. Those McMansions all have Health Dept. approvals & comply with Town imposed clearing regs (well, most of them), and are used about 2 weeks per year. I'd rather have them than this pollution pit. Community Members Urge Southampton Town To Consider Legislation Limiting Local Police From Communicating With ICE, Honoring Warrants

My great, great grandparents came to this country, had to learn English in order to communicate and obeyed all laws. If you want to live in this country, you need to respect it. You need to speak English, obey our laws, work hard, pay taxes....like the rest of us. If you want your kids to have an education, you should help pay for same. If you don't like our laws, please feel free to go back to where you came from. " Sep 26, 18 3:17 PM

Bid For Sag Harbor Impound Lot Approved By Village Board Amid Protesters

Sag Harbor has a history of not caring about the environment. Look at Rowe, Bulova, Bridge Street, Bay Street, Havens Beach, the end of Main. And, if memory serves, the subject site was also part of an EPA investigation years ago. Thousands have come out against this with petitions, letters, attending meetings - yet they still plod ahead, eager to waste taxpayer money. They can use the 3 acres they own on Brick Kiln & Columbia. And they certainly don't need more police. Last summer there were 4 rent-a-cops joking around at a crosswalk doing nothing for hours. This village is a joke. " Jan 10, 19 1:54 PM

Southampton Town Board Rejects Proposal To Purchase Bel-Aire Cove Motel With CPF Money

Leave the CPF money alone - it was proposed to PRESERVE our natural resources, farmland & open spaces - not buy garbage motels. " Jan 23, 19 3:53 PM

G.A. - Environmentally sensitive?? This site is about 95% built on, cleared, paved & bulkheaded with numerous septics - not worth preserving unless you demo everything above & below grade, which will cost even more money. Then what's left - an open field collecting trash. While I'd like see all waterfront eyesores removed, that is not what CPF was meant for. " Jan 24, 19 10:20 AM

DEC Grants Sand Land Eight More Years Of Operation In Settlement

The DEC should be abolished. All they care about is their fees. Each year they issue more & more permits which destroy our environment & wildlife (timber harvesting, mining, hunting, destruction of wetlands, oversized docks blocking beach access). Plus, according to their own website, they do not and cannot enforce their own rules. I'd have to agree with that plain brown envelope. " Mar 20, 19 11:16 AM
