Brush fire damages homes on Dune Road in Quogue

I hope the absent homeowners appreciate what the locals in the FD do for them when it comes to voting for budgets and approving money for fire equipment. They should register to vote out here and support the locals." Apr 26, 10 12:13 PM

Officials want to use Southampton Town's Community Preservation Fund to save Stony Brook Southampton

I agree, give the politicians access to another source of money and they can't wait to spend it. This fund should be kept only for acquiring open land and forested properties." May 3, 10 1:46 PM

Publisher of Dan's Papers files for Chapter 11

Bring back the "original" DANS. Fun, outrageous stories, local news etc. DANS has become like all the rest of the summer rags - the same "celebs" and the same events. There are REAL people out here too." May 4, 10 11:11 AM

Hamptons Online sues former publisher, seeking millions in damages

Thanks 27East for the info. The old Hamptons.Com has become so boring I stopped checking it. HanptonsVue is like the old site. I just miss the cams. They're still no match for 27East but occasionally give a different slant on issues." May 12, 10 11:28 AM

State installs traffic light at Flanders intersection

I'm with you, Sam. Sometimes you have to wait thu an entire light to turn on a yellow or red." May 12, 10 11:30 AM

Mattituck woman will receive six months for DWI fatality involving Hampton Bays teen

Sure, she'll be even more stressed out and will drink again to forget the horrible accident she caused. As a Thank You to the lenient justice system she should promise to leave the state for good. Go live in the desert somewhere." May 28, 10 7:43 PM

Vice President Biden visits Southampton over holiday weekend

Regarding the comments about S Hampton Post Office - Maybe Biden did help. Today there was a crew mowing and cleaning up the property. If a taxpayers home looked that bad the Code Enforcement officers would have ticketed them." Jun 2, 10 3:40 PM

Celestino Gambino, founder of La Parmigiana, dies at 73

I think you have the visiting hours wrong. I was advised that they are Monday and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 each day and the funeral is Wednesday at 10. It was always so nice to be greeted by Mr Gambino when ordering or picking up their wonderful Italian food. I'm sure the family will continue the tradition of good, caring service.

Connecticut casino employees file 11th-hour challenge to Shinnecock recognition

I agree. The last time I went to Foxwoods, crowds were sparce, machines rarely paid off and the "bonus points" were a tenth of what they used to be. They have money problems but by cheating their former loyal players they only hurt themselves. Let's go Shinnecock, lets get a casino going to help the local folk." Jul 16, 10 12:02 PM

Severe thunderstorm hits Springs; many without power

Wow, now they're blaming storms on the Lohan family. If no one mentioned the word LOHAN for a week maybe they would go away and find a real life " Jul 22, 10 4:59 PM

East Quogue woman files $70 million lawsuit against Suffolk County and Southampton Town

If it looks like a duck , quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, maybe she was a well...duck. If the police did not detain her and someone was hurt the press would be all over the authorities. She should have realized how her actions could be taken and visit the base unarmed and with permission to take pictures. Was she setting up the lawsuit then?" Jul 31, 10 11:39 AM

Joseph Schiavoni, longtime Sag Harbor merchant, dies

I'll miss those folksy commercials on WLNG. Condolences to the family." Oct 11, 10 5:39 PM

Altschuler balks; debate with Bishop canceled

I don't like Tim Bishop and was planning to vote for Randy but if he blows off a debate for those of us on the East End I have to assume he doesn't care about us out here. Bishop got lucky with this bad decision by Randy and his people." Oct 11, 10 5:43 PM

Food Pantry Strugglies As Season Of Need Approaches

I agree. While there are many needy people out there who deserve our help, when you see some arrive in flashy cars and worse, with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth, it's hard to be generous. The price of that pack of cigarettes could have paid for a nioe piece of meat for the family." Oct 21, 10 11:01 AM

Ballot Count Begins; Altschuler Travels To Washington

Why is it whenever they talk about recounts they add that the absentee ballots may have to be counted. Aren't they automatically counted in every case? And why would it take 12 hours or more to count up to 20000. The average toddler could do tht in about an hour." Nov 14, 10 8:40 AM

Town Changes Leaf Pick-Up Program Again

Ever watch the leaf removal crew: 1 in the truck, 1 on the tractor and 4 standing around smoking or making cell phone calls. Lets hope the next Hwy Supe will solve the problem - Alex just doesn't get it." Apr 15, 11 6:06 PM

Pope Names Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Roman Catholic Church A Basilica

This started with a wonderful story about Sacred Hearts Church and the great honor it has received. Let's be thankful for that and for living in a community that includes such a beautiful church. The Police issue, though relavent, does not belong here. All of you who use the wrong forum to have your wishes read are truly selfish. You know that if you started your own blog no one would read it. Please keep out of other's discussions." Dec 24, 11 5:24 PM

Long Delays For Traffic On Scuttle Hole Road

If the "traffic kids" left things alone the traffic would have moved smoothly. The traffic going to the art show was light when I passed but by closing off Mitchell lane?? they caused endless tieups. There should have been a ranking PO on scene to supervise the kids.

WLNG Looks Back At 50 Years On The Air

I've been a daily listener since the beginning. Never miss the news in the morning and at 5 and 5:30. They've got to be the only radio station with funeral reports. I'm sure many families have been surprised at the attendance. Local sports? No one else seemed to care. Thanks for being the center of all the local communities.

Flanders Man Searching For Dog That Attacked Him Outside His Home

Those "invisible fences" don't work. Once the dog realizes that for a second of pain he is free he'll take the chance again. " Aug 16, 13 8:16 AM
