Hampton Bays school budget includes 18.5 percent tax hike

Obviously, we have gross incompetence at the top.

1) Impeach the Superintendent who had the audacity to present this budget.
2) Seek out more capable community members for the school board.

This is a new era of accountability and sustainability! These folks clearly don't get it." Apr 27, 10 8:22 AM

Officials want to use Southampton Town's Community Preservation Fund to save Stony Brook Southampton

This plan actually has a hint of brilliance from Southampton Govt.

If we get hold of the development rights with objectives that are consistant with the CPF then we win. This plan not only gives us a true governing control over how the campus land is managed, but it lays the foundation for a true SUNY Southampton.

Dump Stony Brook. Stony Brook has failed on the vision for this campus. Give me a break with calling the unmowed grass a meadow. This campus was just another part of their imperalist mission; I am sure they already had construction plans. It's time to make our own plan and create an asset for our community.

Hampton Bays School District proposition

I have great concern about how much excess money our community is being taxed. Imagine how much wasteful spending occurred before the board admitted that they have $300,000 left over. This is surely what remains after a huge effort to spend, spend, spend... Evidenced by an even bigger budget request for the next year. (and now we know that Doug Oakland overtaxed us by a substantial amount last year)

The only acceptable use of the unspent funds is to apply it to the next budget and provide a tax reduction to the few of us here who actually pay the taxes.

No to prop 2 and No to the budget! The only acceptable budget is a decrease!! It's time for Hampton Bays Schools to learn about sustainability." May 17, 10 9:42 PM
