Army Corps recommends major sand movements

the National Tax Limitation Committee, thought it may sound like some official government body, is nothing more than a far right conservative political organization founded by Reagan lackey Lew Uhler, a right-wing ideologue trying to advance his extremist agenda which is to increase the power of corporations over our government. Laughable that you would quote his "study"

Does Throne-Holst have support for a Planned Development District moratorium?

Respectfully, the exact opposite is true - the more we question their motives, the more we scrutinize, the more we demand, the better our government becomes. The PDD process has been abused for so long that it is time to do away with it as a tool for over-development. Enough is enough. " Oct 7, 10 8:28 PM

I understand America just fine, thank you, and I still disagree with your premise. Firstly, I don't see anything in the article talking about corruption, nor do I see any post here mentioning corruption or conspiracy theories. What I see is a completely valid lack of trust in our elected officials.

Some of them have indeed taken substantial contributions from developers with projects in the pipeline and the effect of those contributions on the respective politician should be questioned. Again, they way we attract "real leaders" to positions of authority is by making it clear to anyone running that they will be held accountable for their actions and the contributions they accept.

If, by using the term "mob rule" you are referring to the hundreds of community members who have spoken out against PDD's - perhaps you should remember that they are a mob of voters on whose behalf the politicians were elected to act. " Oct 8, 10 2:05 PM

Altschuler balks; debate with Bishop canceled

Yet another teapartier with no ideas afraid of public scrutiny. How can anyone, no matter how angry, support a candidate who made a living sending jobs to India and afraid to face his opponent? Altschuler is wrong for Long Island and wrong for America. " Oct 10, 10 7:28 PM

What's even worse is the teapartiers themselves willing to elect the wrong people just to satisfy their own misplaced anger at a changing world. Debates are only overrated if you're candidate is second rate carpetbagger who makes millions at the expense of his fellow Americans. And you teapartiers call yourself patriots. It would be hilarious were it not so tragic. Ditto head" Oct 10, 10 7:40 PM

Capt you confuse personal biases with facts. You have not given an actual reason but an opinion." Oct 11, 10 10:39 PM

Capt A is the model teapartier. They scream and yell about problems and then, when presented with a solution they discount it through misrepresentation of facts. The one thing that is never a part if their ideology? Solutions " Oct 11, 10 10:43 PM

The insurance company raised you premiums, not the government. Want cheaper coverage? Fight for single payer. You teapartiers are simply too stubborn or too thick to realize that you are expending so much energy to fight against your own best interests. Crazy talk. Absolute, unabashed crazy talk. " Oct 12, 10 7:01 PM

Tim is the right man and he will be reelected because no sane person could vote for a man who made millions outsourcing American jobs. There are so many cowards out there who attack immigrants because they will not fight back. So many posters on this site too cowardly to fight those with more money and power than them." Clashing ideas about jobs dominate congressional race

Yes,hiring cheap labor creates management jobs in the US and guess what? The exact same thing can be said about hiring undocumented workers right here in the US. Bet you'd have something different to say about that, ducky. I cannot believe the excuses you guys will make for your unqualified candidates " Oct 13, 10 6:59 PM

If it is true you work for Mr Outsourcer, that makes your postings doubly pathetic and says a heck of a lot about the character of the man you work for. " Oct 13, 10 7:44 PM

Clashing ideas about jobs dominate congressional race

Vote for candidates that support immigration reform, like Tim Bishop. And stop attempting to bait and switch. Altschuler sent American jobs to India. Thousands of American jobs taken from American workers so he could make millions. Stop trying to equate what he did with immigration because you cannot complain about one and excuse the other" Oct 13, 10 8:15 PM

Altschuler, Bishop Will Take Part In Campaign Event On Thursday

I find it disgusting that folks are willing to vote for a man who outsourced tens of thousands of American jobs simply because they hate Tim Bishop. To say that the democrats have done nothing is quite simply to deny history.

I don' t care how many times the lie is told or how many people tell it, but the fact is that our country is in the shape it is in because of GWB and the republicans. You want to vote out the people who blew up the deficit? Then vote out the republicans, not only are they responsible, but they want to add another 7 Trillion dollars by continuing Bush's tax cuts to the rich not to mention the trillions spent off the books for two unnecessary wars.

Although many teabaggers would like you to believe TARP was Obama, it was BUSH and PAULSON who handed that bailout to the banks.

The stimulus WAS Obama and, again, despite the lies it created and saved millions of jobs, just ask all those republicans who opposed it and then went to Washington begging for funds to create jobs in their district.

The auto bail out WAS Obama and it saved hundreds of thousands of jobs and we Americans stand to make a profit on the loan not to mention that US car sales are now surpassing foreign.

You want to scream about immigration, scream at the republicans. They had eight years and did absolutely nothing and then when the dems attempted to pass comprehensive reforms WRITTEN BY LINDSEY GRAHAM AND JOHN MCCAIN, the republicans blocked the reform and those two hypocrites joined them! By the way, the current administration has already deported more "illegals" than the previous.

Yeah, go ahead and look the other way at Altschuler's outsourcing. Ignore the fact that republicas, with the aid of the Chamber of Commerce's foreign money, made it easy to outsource and are still blocking legislation to level the playing field for American workers. But don't say the democrats have done nothing to clean up the incredible mess left by GWB and the republicans. " Oct 19, 10 11:53 AM

The teaparty has had a big impact - they have insured that the democrats will retain control of the senate.

By the way, quoting an article from the right wing Politico is like me quoting from Huff Post, which I will now do:

"With two weeks to go in the 2010 mid-term elections there are a number of good reasons to believe -- contrary to most conventional wisdom -- that Democrats will still control the House once the smoke clears from the electoral battlefield." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-creamer/two-weeks-out-nine-reason_b_766012.html

By the way, Nate Silver of the Five Thirty Eight blog who correctly predicted 99% of all races in 2008, agrees: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

Extremely accurate observation. Teapartiers believe that theirs is a grass-roots movement, but, in reality, the entire fiction of this group was a well-thought out and well-financed ploy by a dying republican party to put a new face on themselves. Karl Rove's group has given millions to "teaparty" candidates and Dick Armey's freedom works not only defined the movement, but chose its candidates - people like Joe Miller, Sharon Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Paladino and Paul - all financed and promoted by Dick Armey.

This is from a Gallup poll "There is significant overlap between Americans who identify as supporters of the Tea Party movement and those who identify as conservative Republicans. Their similar ideological makeup and views suggest that the Tea Party movement is more a rebranding of core Republicanism than a new or distinct entity on the American political scene." http://www.gallup.com/poll/141098/tea-party-supporters-overlap-republican-base.aspx" Oct 20, 10 10:33 AM

Altschuler, Bishop Will Take Part In Campaign Event On Thursday

This from the FOUNDER OF THE TEA PARTY himself, Karl Denninger:

"Tea Party my a**. This was nothing other than The Republican Party stealing the anger of a population that was fed up with The Republican Party's own theft of their tax money at gunpoint to bail out the robbers of Wall Street and fraudulently redirecting it back toward electing the very people who stole all the ****ing money!"

According to Mr. Denninger, "Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, and d**chebag groups such as the Tea Party Patriots" are to blame for the bastardization of a movement that now seems focused on "Guns, gays, God," instead of the Tea Party's original mission: to castigate the federal government for supporting the "rampant theft" of taxpayer dollars that went toward "propping up FAILED private businesses."

This man, an original organizer of the Tea Party is at least aware enough to see that this "grass roots" movement is nothing more than a rebranded republican party focused NOT on real issues, but instead on preaching bigotry and violence and controlled by corporate interests like the Chamber of Commerce." You nailed it whodat5 and razza, joe hampton, mackt, et al are living examples of why this is true.

I wish Reagan were still alive so you could tell him that. " Oct 25, 10 6:24 PM

7 more days until Tim wins, Altschuler is sent packing and dems retain control of the senate. If the dems lose the house, John Boehner will lead his team of ditto heads in an orgy of nothing. 2012, the republicans nominate Palin, Obama wins in the biggest landslide ever, and, after the embarrassing politics of 2 years of republicans, dems sweep both houses and we begin Obama's second term with even larger majorities then we have now. A future I welcome. " Oct 26, 10 8:07 AM

For anyone wondering how the republicans plan to govern over the next two years, the answer is - they don't. Instead, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated that the "single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

"The single most important thing we want to achieve" is NOT creating jobs, helping the unemployed, boosting the economy, improving our schools, holding banks accountable, stopping jobs from being outsourced, stopping two wars . . . but "for President Obama to be a one-term president."

Given that they've been pursuing the same lofty goal for the past two years it comes as no surprise that they will continue, but with one out of every three voters still undecided, what more do you need to know. Mitch McConnell has admitted that his party puts destroying president Obama over the well being of the American people." Oct 26, 10 11:51 AM
