Best wishes to you all in your endeavors. I applaud you for preserving your history." Jul 9, 09 9:40 PM
The moratorium should prevent building until it is lifted. Allowing Mr. Morrow to proceed with a condominium complex during this time makes a joke out of the moratorium. As far as the GEIS meetings that are being held, part of the time the "officials" on the committee don't show up; Meetings are cancelled and changed at the drop of a hat. Saying they will increase them to twice a month is a joke, they hardly have a meeting a month as it is now.
As usual, lip service is being paid to a serious problem in Hampton Bays." Jul 13, 09 9:28 PM
22.5 million price tag for something that needs to be torn down? Pretty soon we aren't going to have any of the beautiful old mansions that defined this area.
Wake up Southampton Town before your history is completely destroyed!
What a pity. " Jul 22, 09 5:11 PM
"High-end metal panels" and "feature traditional architecture and cedar shake siding"? Sounds ugly already!" Jul 22, 09 9:33 PM
Squeaky, your point is well taken. Perhaps I should have said that area. I have many memories of Sunday drives going past these stately mansions. I hate to see them destroyed due to water damage.
Yes, it revenge crossed my mind also when I read this. Probably why there was water damage." Jul 23, 09 8:36 AM
This is Hampton Bays...of course there will be exceptions!!" Jul 23, 09 8:38 AM
The never ending letters from Ms. Lynch and the others complaining about Animal Control make my head hurt.
This story certainly brought a smile to my face! We can love our animals without ranting endlessly!!
Great story!" Jul 23, 09 8:57 AM
Instead of policing our roads and enforcing our laws the town repeatedly slaps up traffic lights and stop signs which do nothing to solve the problem! It is ridiculous." Aug 27, 09 8:47 AM
If people don't slow down for the curve, how are they going to slow down for a 4 way stop sign? The road needs to be reworked so it doesn't pitch. As R. Topping said, you can't stop stupid people. People speed, people do stupid things. Putting up stop signs will NOT stop this!" Aug 27, 09 8:51 AM
What a terrible tragedy. Joey will be missed. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Dorothy, Phil & Anthony." Aug 27, 09 8:55 AM
foxnfowl this is a question that have been on more than a few minds. Hard to know rumor from fact but one has to wonder." Oct 8, 09 10:35 PM
I don't believe that anyone is asking you to "turn your back on a friend". That doesn't change the facts. The man grabbed someone around the neck when he was told to get off a table. Why would someone feel it necessary to do that? Is that how he responded to anyone who asked him to behave like an adult? Please support your friend, but don't sit there and say he didn't kill someone or he doesn't have an anger issue. What were his intentions? To sit and have a little chat with Andy?
" Oct 24, 09 9:44 PM
Sorry this is a bunch of hog wash. He'd already been asked to get off of the table. Clearly you believe that dancing on a table in an establishment is accepted conduct. Scared for his life? Please. No I wasn't in court but I know someone who saw the entire thing that night. He wasn't scared for his life he was scared of being arrested and put in jail for murder which is why he ran. Scared for his life because he was supposedly "pushed off a table". Yikes, poor little man must be afraid of alot in life especially since, as you state, "he wised off". Why wasn't he afraid of the patrons in the bar who were beating on him to let Andy go? I don't need to know murderers to judge them. He killed a man with his hands because he was dancing on a table. Are you saying he didn't kill him? Are you saying it's ok he killed him because Andy told him no? What exactly are you saying? You want to say he's a fun guy, fine. I don't know him, he probably loves his Mommy for all I know but that doesn't change the fact that his anger overruled his common sense and he KILLED someone. " Oct 25, 09 9:08 AM
I get it, it's ok that he KILLED someone because he didn't know he was a bouncer. Is taking the life of a fellow patron somehow OK? He killed someone with his bare hands. I don't care what the person was wearing they are now dead. " Oct 25, 09 9:16 AM
The Rechler's claim that the town delayed them for 19 months. The moratorium wasn't 19 months long? The Rechler's are asking to build more than they could "as of right". They knew this when they purchased the property. There was no guarantee that they would get what they want. The town has zoning for a reason. Why every one thinks it is ok to ignore the zoning and building whatever the builder wants is a mystery. If the Recherler's built what they could "as of right", they would have been building months before the moratorium,
If the Town Board had made them "a governing body" there would be alot less building in the town. The Town Board listens then does whatever the builder wants. " Oct 25, 09 10:06 AM
I also wish that I had known about this program ahead of time. These men and women deserve to be recognized for their actions. More of these programs should be held.
Thank you Penny Wright!" Oct 25, 09 10:08 AM
Yes, but they are staying they have been stalled for 19 months. Part of the reason is because of them, nothing to do with the town. Since they are threatening to sue the Town one is lead to believe that it is all the Town's fault. It isn't.
" Oct 26, 09 9:38 AM
Whether or not the filing is of paramount is, in my opinion, unimportant. There is a requirement that it is filed. There is, hopefully, a reason for the filing. It wasn't filed. Rules and regulations, whether good or bad, are made to be followed or changed. Until it is changed, it should be followed. For someone who is asking to lead the Town to say sorry not my fault, doesn't inspire me with their administrative skills. " Oct 26, 09 9:49 AM
You shall be greatly missed Joe! " Nov 4, 09 4:53 PM
There is a church on Bellows Pond Rd? " Nov 19, 09 12:34 PM
A known address to people who know him. Did the police/Publick house staff know him? Did he leave a business card behind? Leave his phone number with the staff? He wasn't fleeing he just what.. Was leaving quickly? Please, it doesn't matter where he was going he left because he knew what he had done was wrong. Whether he knew Mr. Reister would die from his injuries or not, he knew that he'd stepped over a line.
