Attorney Asks For $70 Million Judgment Against Southampton Town

You got it exactly right, realitylast. You've perfectly spelled out the neocon hypocrisy.

As for Obama - unlike the zombie wingnuts on the right, we progressives do no blindly support our leaders on everything they do. We approach each and every issue intellectually. Obama was wrong.

The teaparty supported candidates actually sided with most dems on this, so I'll have to give them credit for sticking to their libertarian roots. " Feb 9, 11 4:26 PM

Rage rep, you have got to be the angriest person alive! Your misery will surely devour your soul, but on the meantime allow me to further anger and correct you: Anna Holst is NOT a democrat, butan independent. I am also independent and I always support the mist progressive and thoughtful candidate (that person has neverbeen a republican especially now that the baggers have control of their minds). I am NOT an Anna supporter. I would be happy tosee her go and take every current board member with her, especially that grandstanding whined Malone" Feb 10, 11 7:36 PM

The first amendment protects you from persecution from the government. An Americans right to spew crap on a privately owned blog is NOT protected by the first amendment. Jury Verdict In Kabot Case: Not Guilty Of DWI

Linda was drunk. For those not enamored of her politically, the evidence is clear. The jury was startled by the sparkling lights of conspiracy theory, so she should consider herself lucky and move on.

And let's not forget, weren't there witnesses who saw her at a bar that were not allowed to testify. Move on, Kabot. You did enough damage to this town when you were Heaney's henchwoman and you continued when you took the reigns.

Amagansett Festival Organizers Consider Moving Concert To Airport

They already have a venue in Amagansett. It was approved, and, as they said in this article, the airport is simply a fall back and if they do not get it, they will go back to the original spot that is already secured. So, by your logic, they should definitely share the names of their "major" acts." Feb 12, 11 5:01 PM

To compare this operation to Glastonbury or coachella is like comparing my kids little league game to the world series. Additionally, you may not have known who was headlining, but people who bought tickets did so because they knew what bands were on the schedule. Twenty-Eight Positions Could Be Cut At Eastport South Manor School District

A $750,000.00 increase in health insurance premiums has nothing to with teachers, staff or "only in the hamptons" - it is a direct result of our worthless private health insurance industry that raises rates every year while decreasing benefits. Want to save that money? Then push for medicare for all!" Feb 17, 11 3:42 PM

Hey, realitylast, unlike you I am not sitting around waiting for you to respond to my posts. Now that I have an opportunity to do so, let me start off by saying that for all of the "lies" you accuse me of propagating, you spew ten times the b s .

So, realitylast, are you asserting that there is no relationship between rising health insurance costs and NY Empire premium
increases? Sure sounds like you are. Let me enlighten you.

In a country where health care is controlled by private companies (the U.S.), as premiums increase (so that private insurers can increase profits and pay and benefits to CEOs), healthy people who can’t afford the increase drop their insurance; as healthy people drop their insurance, the medical risk is spread among a smaller group of people making claims. The more people drop their health insurance, the faster premiums go up - all premiums, even those of NY Empire. You know how many uninsured we now have in this country? 51 million.

People without health insurance get their medical treatment at the emergency room from hospitals which are required to provide medical treatment without regard to insurance coverage. This results in people going to the hospital for a simple cold or sore throat which uses up hospital resources and costs 10 times more than what it would cost to see a doctor in a private office.

Although Empire's administrative costs may be low, most private insurers spend anywhere from 12 to 30% on administrative costs - which drives up all health care costs, forcing Empire to raise their Premiums to meet those increased health care costs.

Realitylast? Hello? Are you going to answer, or is your ego in danger of imploding when confronted with facts?
" Feb 17, 11 5:12 PM

Ah, typical hamptonjoe teabaggery. When you can't answer facts, hurl insults instead. Joe, the fact that you consider me a joke makes me realize I am doing something right. Keep on baggin'." Feb 17, 11 5:28 PM

If you reread my post you will find the answer, which is why you clearly did not read it in the first place. Increased administrative costs of private insurers drive up the cost of health care which in turn means that empire must increase premiums to meet those costs. Even the simplest of all simpletons should be able to understand the concept of increased costs.

If by "rational thought" you mean thinking the way you do, then yes, I am proudly incapable of that. " Feb 17, 11 5:58 PM

Are you Joe's wife?" Feb 17, 11 5:59 PM

Thus is the last time I am going to explain it so pay attention: if Aetna spends 30% of every dollar on administrative costs that drives up the cost of care because less money goes to actual treatment. When the cost of care increases it increases for everyone, not just Aetna, not to mention all of the other facts i mentioned that you completely ignored. Healthcare costs ( the cost of providing care) have a direct effect on health insurance premiums. The private insurance monopoly is driving up health care costs and we all must pay. Christie has NOT created jobs in New Jersey and he is destroying the educations system. That fat tyrant has become the hero pro-business, anti-union right wingers everywhere despite the fact that there is absolutely no evidence that his policies work. None.

Hundreds of billions of dollars of tax breaks to the rich and give aways to corporate CEO's and the teachers should negotiate?! Are you kidding? How many corporate criminals have been prosecuted in Jersey or anywhere else in this country? Money in money out? 1% of the population in this country owns over 80% of the wealth. How long can democracy last with that kind of disparity? Did you see what happened in Egypt? The right wing in this country values profits over humans.

Teachers unions have made a ton of concessions over the years, but the attitude of the right wing is "why should they have benefits if I don't?" Why don't you ask yourself "Why did big oil get 36 billion dollars in subsidies?" "Why do billionaires pay a lower tax rate than I do?" "Why do the biggest corporations in America pay no taxes?" No, instead you go after public servants who make an average of $55,000 a year. Cowards" Feb 20, 11 10:21 AM
