East Hampton Library Offers Full Scholarshiop for Bi-Lingual Scholar

The East Hampton Library Board of Managers has announced an opportunity for bi-lingual individuals interested in pursuing a career in library and information science. Through a private funding source, the library is offering a scholarship that will cover the tuition expenses of a master’s degree in library and information science, coupled with an employment opportunity at the East Hampton Library. The scholarship aims to empower Spanish/English speaking scholars who are passionate about libraries, information science, and community engagement. ‘Heroes of the Game’ Returns to Ducks Baseball

Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, in partnership with Legislator Nick Caracappa, the Long Island Ducks, Flagstar Bank and the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, announced the return of the Heroes of the Game program for the 2024 season to honor local veterans and active-duty military personnel. #KKStrong Fundraiser To Help Kearney Family Set

The Clubhouse Hamptons will host #KKStrong, a benefit to support Kayla Kearney and the Kearney Family on Saturday, May 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. Kayla, from Springs, is a 20-year-old college student who has undergone several emergency surgeries after complications from a removal of a rare brain tumor on her pituitary gland in January. Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is accepting applications for its 2024 Student Scholarship program. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 10. LIMEHOF will award $500 scholarships to eligible graduating students from Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Queens, or Kings (Brooklyn) counties who have shown an interest in pursuing a career in music. Poetry Competition Winners Announced

The Bliss Morehead Grant Committee has named the winners of the third annual Bliss Morehead Poetry Grant competition. The theme for 2024 was “Hope and Grace”. The winner is Emily O’Reilly of Montauk for her poem “Legacy.” O’Reilly will be awarded the Bliss Morehead Grant of $1,000 on Friday, April 26, at the Shelter Island Public Library Poetry Project Program. Montauk Library will present a three-part series of performances titled “WaterWays: Commemorating The 500th Anniversary of Verrazzano’s Voyage in 1524” this spring.
