We don’t often get to report that the real estate scene in Hampton Bays is hot, but sales information released in the last couple of weeks indicate the hamlet is heating up.

Prospective buyers of 22 North Shore Road were advised to “indulge yourself in this rare, open bay treasure tucked away in Red Cedar Point. This chicly rebuilt, contemporary home is a true art form constructed from exquisite, European materials with details and style set upon endless, intoxicating views on the open bay.” Jane and Robert Matluck could not resist such a siren call, and they purchased the property for a robust $3,020,000.

Inside, a solid walnut door enriched by copper overlay leads to an open floor plan spanning a spacious gourmet kitchen and living and dining areas with towering walls of glass. The master bedroom en suite enjoys its own terrace with equally dramatic views. Three additional main-level bedrooms are each generous in size and appeal. Outdoors, the new owners will no doubt enjoy the hardwood deck and landscaped backyard. The finished basement follows in the same fashion with both media and game rooms. Just shy an acre, the west-facing property neighbors 124 acres of natural preserve and beach frontage. Sounds appealing indeed

The other transaction worth noting in Hampton Bays involves the home of Anthony Scotto, at 11 Mill Pond, which has just sold for $2,962,500. He is the brother of “Good Day New York” anchor Rosanna Scotto and, along with family members he owns the restaurant Fresco by Scotto in Manhattan.

Mr. Scotto had the house built in 2007 and first put it on the market in July 2016 with an asking price of $3,995,000. The house, on 0.83 acre, was last listed for $3,199,000, and apparently dipping under that $3 million mark did the trick. The bayfront, shingle-style house, with oak flooring throughout, features 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There are water views from just about every angle. The open layout includes a living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room that overlooks a sunroom, and a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a center island with a cooktop—not at all surprising for a restaurant owner.
