EMP Summer House, the pop-up restaurant by Manhattan’s Eleven Madison Park, will return to East Hampton in May for its second season, American Express announced this week.
EMP Summer House was conceived in 2017 when Eleven Madison Park itself—a contemporary American restaurant by chef Daniel Humm and Will Guidara located in the Met Life North building on Madison Avenue since 1998—would be closed temporarily while undergoing renovations. In 2017, the British magazine Restaurant—after polling chefs, restaurateurs and critics—named Eleven Madison Park the No. 1 restaurant in the world.
The pop-up will return to 341 Pantigo Road, which has been known as Moby’s, Spring Close House and Farmhouse, and will be open from May 25 through Labor Day.
The restaurant will serve an a la carte menu with a focus on both grilled and raw seafood, plus pasta and steak. The kitchen includes a wood-burning oven.
The dining room will be slightly more formal that than casual setting of the covered patio and backyard, according to the restaurateurs.
“We had originally planned the pop-up for one season, but had such an incredible experience with our guests and our staff last summer that we, along with our partners at American Express, realized there was no choice but to create a sequel,” Mr. Guidara said in a statement.
Once again, only American Express card members will be eligible to make reservations at EMP Summer House, and only American Express cards will be accepted for card payments.
Starting on May 1, reservations for dates through June 30 will be available at empsummerhouse.com. On June 1, reservations through July 31 will be available. Then on July 1, reservations may be made through Labor Day. A $50 per person deposit will be required for each reservation and will be applied to the dining bill.
Eleven Madison Park and American Express will debut EMP Winter House, in Aspen, Colorado, this winter, open from December 2018 through March 2019.
