The Village of Quogue and its immediate surroundings sure seem to be brimming with robust real estate activity lately. People who can afford to pay seven and eight figures for properties may be finding the Atlantic Ocean just as lovely on the west side of the Shinnecock Canal as on the east side—and last week, without U.S. Open traffic.
A clear indication of rising home values is the recent sale of 124 Dune Road in Quogue, which changed hands for $14.6 million. The buyer’s identity is shielded by a limited liability company. The 3-acre gated estate was renovated in 2007 into a 10,700-square-foot “smart house, “which, according to The Corcoran Group, has an “electronic design for seamless control of all devices.” The entry foyer leads to a marble staircase; cozy den with wet bar and fireplace; two well-appointed guest suites; another guest suite with den and access to the porch; and two additional bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first floor also has a state-of-the-art media and billiard room, and a laundry room.
There are “breathtaking” views seen from the second floor. Inside includes a dining room, half-bath, oceanside master suite with office, den and oceanfront deck. A sitting area leads out to a balcony overlooking the tennis court. The living room has a fireplace, and leads to an oceanside custom gourmet eat-in kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and breakfast nook. Another spacious deck has an elevated, heated pool and hot tub overlooking the ocean. In addition, the property offers a covered porch, oversized two-and-a-half-car garage, and a cabana with bath and telescoping doors for more ocean views.
Just down the road in East Quogue, 63 Dune Road just sold for $6.25 million, to Elyse S. Nathanson. What’s especially interesting about this property is that it’s a 1.38-acre vacant lot. It’s surrounded by natural vegetation and nearby sugar-sand beach. There are coastal bay vistas to the north and, of course, the waves of the blue Atlantic. One can assume an architect is already at work on plans for the future manse.
And let’s not forget tiny Quiogue.
The house that just sold at 4 Hobart Lane could be mistaken for a home across the border in Westhampton Beach. In any case, it was purchased by Christine and Kevin Lauri for $3.5 million. The residence on 1.1 acres has five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths, plus a gourmet kitchen and three fireplaces. The property benefits from being right on Quantuck Bay, with a boat slip, a pool and a cabana with a full bath.
