A residence with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, 10-foot ceilings and 3,516 square feet in total, situated on just more than an acre near Lily Pond—oh, and it’s the carriage house to the famed Grey Gardens—has found a buyer and a contract has been signed for under the most recent asking price of $8.95 million.

Brokered by Sotheby’s International Realty, the original asking price for the 19th-century home designed by Joseph Greenleaf Thorpe was $9.5 million. The location near the ocean at Georgica Beach and the greater Grey Gardens property was the home of relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and the setting of a renowned 1975 documentary, HBO movie and Broadway musical.

The sale of the Grey Gardens main residence—a 12-room, 6,000-square-foot shingle-style home that includes seven bedrooms, a pool, a tennis court, ocean views and beautiful gardens—closed at $15.5 million in December 2017.

The new owners of the 1896 carriage house could choose to expand the manse to just more than 5,500 square feet, including a finished lower level, or even tear it down.
