Gary J. Whitehead—poet, teacher, and crossword constructor—will be the next guest at Writers Speak Wednesdays, a series of free author talks and readings at Stony Brook Southampton.
In January, Mr. Whitehead published his fourth collection of poems, “Strange What Rises” by Terrapin Books, and he will read from and talk about his work on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall on the ground floor of Chancellors Hall at the Southampton campus. In addition to three earlier full-length poetry collections, Mr. Whitehead has also authored three chapbooks of poetry, two of which were winners of national competitions. His poems have appeared widely in journals and magazines, most notably in the New Yorker.
He lives in the Hudson Valley of New York and teaches English and creative writing at Tenafly High School in New Jersey. For information on the program call 631-632-5030 or visit stonybrook.edu/mfa.
