Woman Seriously Injured in Springs Car Crash

An East Hampton woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash early Thursday morning, East Hampton Town Police said. The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on Three Mile Harbor-Hog Creek Road. Police say that an SUV driven by Judith Santiago-Martinez, 27, apparently swerved off the roadway and struck a tree. The crash was reported by a nearby resident who heard the crash. Police said that Santiago-Martinez was cut from the car and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Maria Jacqeline Torres Tenemaza, 29, of Springs was charged with first-time misdemeanor DWI in East Hampton on Saturday night by East Hampton Town Police. According to police, she was behind the wheel of a 2015 Mitsubishi headed north on Springs Fireplace Road near West Drive when, the arresting officer reported, she began swerving across the double yellow line into the oncoming lane multiple times, leading to the traffic stop. Upon interviewing her, he believed her intoxicated, based on his experience and training, he reported.
