Nearly 400 residents from East Hampton Town, Southampton Town, Shelter Island, and the North Fork came to the LTV Headquarters
Susan McGraw Keber. Resident of East Hampton. Requesting the Town of East Hampton to take back EH Airport and implement a curfew and reserve it for what it was intended for: recreational aviation. Up-graded from "local" to "regional" the airport now is host to numerous large jets, seaplane, piston and turbo engine aircraft, the most egregious being the non-stop "taxi commuter" helicopters. If we are to remain a destination for people to vacation, we must protect the reason they flock here. Environmentally, health-wise, and our basic human need and right to peace and quiet are reasons to stop the incessant disruption of our lives. No to FAA funding and another twenty years of this mounting burden! The people from the North Fork and Shelter Island are all adversely effected as well as Southampton. No one should have to endure the torture of noise pollution: we chose to live here because of the inherent beauty and peace and quiet.
