The 6th Connecticut Regiment made a trip to Sag Harbor on Saturday, May 15, in honor of the anniversary of the May 1777 attack Lt. Col. Jonathan Meigs and 130 of his men made on the British in occupied Sag Harbor. On May 23, 1777 Meigs and his men crossed Long Island Sound in a fleet of 13 whaleboats to attack the British at night. The attack succeeded in burning 12 ships and taking 90 prisoners, without losing a single man.
