Eric Ripert, Tom Colicchio, Marc Meyer and Laurent Tourondel are among the world famous chefs returning to the 2010 Great Chefs Dinner on Sunday, August 8, at the Hayground School on Mitchells Lane in Bridgehampton. The dinner is a benefit for Jeff’s Kitchen and the Jeff Salaway Scholarship Fund at the Hayground School.
At a cocktail party from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the dinner, notable Manhattan chefs Tom Colicchio (Craft Restaurants and TV’s “Top Chef”) and John Capon (Lure Fishbar) as well as top local chefs will prepare hors d’oeuvres using local bounty. Chefs include: Gerry Hayden & Claudia Fleming (North Fork Table & Inn), Cheryl Stair (Art of Eating), Kevin Penner (The Grill on Pantigo), Bryan Futerman (Foody’s), Jason Weiner (Almond), Tom Schaudel (A Mano), Christian Mir (Stone Creek Inn), Joseph Realmuto (Nick & Toni’s), Vittorio Assaf (Serafina East Hampton) and Matt Michel (Rolling in Dough Pizza Truck).
Joe Watson (Vine Wine Bar), Purity Vodka, Channing Daughters Winery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, Boylan Soda, TeaNY, Vitamin Water, Smart Water, Maker’s Mark and Wölffer Vineyards will provide specialty drinks for the cocktail party.
Local Artists Silent Auction
A silent art auction will also be held during the cocktail party featuring renowned local artists including: Caio Fonseca, Tim Davis, Lisa Sanditz, Mikelle Terson, Sally Egbert, Ken Robbins, Dan Rizzie, Susan Lazarus, Toni Ross, Jon Snow, Nancy Robbins, Jean Pagliuso, Rima Smythe, Eugenio Cuttica, Lisa Pevaroff, Janet Jennings, Phillippe Cheng, Bastienne Schmidt, Margaret Garrett, Jesse Pasca, Perry Burns, Jenny Gorman, Tapp Francke, Taney Roniger, Alice Hope, Darlene Charneco, Nicole Parcher, David Geiser, Erica Lynn Huberty, Robin Saidman, David Collins, Lorimer Burns and Louisa Chase. Artwork will be on display at the event with all proceeds going to Jeff’s Kitchen and the Jeff Salaway Scholarship Fund.
Special musical guest Diane Birch will entertain at the sit-down dinner to follow the cocktail party from 7 to 9 p.m. The four-course meal will include dishes prepared by Eric Ripert (Le Bernardin), Laurent Tourondel (Brasserie Ruhlmann), Marc Meyer (Cook Shop, Five Points, 100 Acres), Miche Bacher (Sacred Sweets) and Cavaniola’s Cheese Shop.
The dinner will be paired with Bedell Cellars wines selected by sommelier Joe Watson of Vine Wine Bar and Casa Dragones sipping tequila will be served as an after-dinner drink. Eric Lemonides of Almond Restaurants will serve at the maitre d’. A portion of the produce used in the sit-down dinner will be sourced from Hayground School’s Slow Foods Greenhouse.
There will also be a live auction hosted by director Barry Sonnenfeld following the dinner featuring exclusive culinary and travel packages such as cooking with Florence Fabricant (New York Times), a one-week stay in an apartment in Paris, a round of golf at the Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton and more.
Tickets for the cocktail party only are $150 per person. Tickets for the dinner and the cocktail party are $750. VIP wine tables are also available, limited availability, featuring fine wine selections and premium seating in Jeff’s Kitchen, with prices starting at $1,500. Tickets for children will be available for $35, which includes creative child care by Hayground Camp counselors, plus a separate kids’ dinner.
The Great Chefs Dinner is the primary fund-raiser for Bridgehampton’s Hayground School and an annual tribute to the late Jeff Salaway, a widely respected restaurateur and one of the school’s co-founders. The 2009 event raised some $200,000 for Jeff’s Kitchen and the Jeff Salaway Scholarship Fund.
