Mark your calendars for one of Southampton’s favorite events, the summer fair at St. John’s Episcopal Church, which will be held on Saturday, June 27, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church grounds, 100 South Main Street. All proceeds from the fair help support St. John’s community outreach programs.

A great assortment of items will be available including clothing, linens, fabrics, books, audio and video recordings, a “Collector’s Corner” featuring antiques, used furniture, ceramics, glassware and kitchen items. The ever-popular “Trash or Treasures” table will showcase a wide assortment of garage sale items, children’s toys and games, used furniture, household accents and fixtures, small kitchen appliances and a few oddities that may be exactly what someone has been looking for. And, what would a church fair be without homemade baked goods, ice cream, and a great selection of seasonal plants for sale? There will plenty of those items, too.

The Reverend Peter Larsen will be manning the grill, cooking hot dogs as he has done for many years. It is estimated that Reverend Larsen grills and serves 400 hot dogs at the fair each year. Soda and water will be available to accompany your meal.

The Southampton Historical Museum will host author Mary Cummings who will speak about her newly published book “100 Years of Healing: Southampton Hospital, 1909 to 2009” on Wednesday, June 3, at noon, at the Rogers Mansion on Meeting House Lane. Admission is free.

The Pelletreau Silver Shop, a property of the Southampton Historical Museum, will hold a “Vernissage,” an opening reception, on Saturday, June 6, from 4 to 6 p.m., to show its newly refurbished interior. The historic structure, built in 1686, is still on its original location and was the workshop of Revolutionary War patriot and silversmith Elias Pelletreau between 1750 and 1810. Resident jeweler Eric Messin will talk about the historic shop and students from his jewelry making workshops will give demonstrations.
