Eleanor Samson Gillespie of Southampton marries William Waldron Strumolo of Connecticut

Eleanor Samson Gillespie, daughter of David and Lisa Gillespie of Southampton, married William Waldron Strumolo, son of Ann Havemeyer and Tom Strumolo of Norfolk, Connecticut, on August 15 at St. Andrew’s Dune Church in Southampton. A reception followed at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

The bride was attended by her sister Hartley Gillespie as maid of honor and four bridesmaids, Addie and Lizzie Strumolo, sisters of the groom, and two friends, Karen Lenahan and Emily Bishop. Her cousin, Megan Sweeny, served as flower girl. Peter Strumolo, the groom’s brother served as best man and groomsmen included Andrew Strumolo, Joseph Wenger, Jonathan Steinitz, and John Corcoran.

Ms. Gillespie is the granddaughter of Barbara Hartley Lord of Southampton and the late J. Couper Lord, the late Emma Gillespie, and the late Kenrick Gillespie. Mr. Strumolo is the grandson of Harry and Eugenie Havemeyer, Harriet Strumolo and the late Richard Strumolo.

Both the bride and groom were students at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, where they met. The two then went on to graduate from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Following a honeymoon in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the couple will reside in New York City, where the bride teaches at the Buckley School and the groom is self-employed as a software engineer, for which he received a graduate degree from New York University.
