A 15-year-old girl told police she was abducted at knifepoint in Manorville on Monday afternoon by two men in a red pickup truck, and driven around for about an hour as one of the abductors demanded sex. She refused, police said, and was released uninjured.

The teen said she was walking south on Chapman Boulevard, north of Hot Water Street, at approximately 4:20 p.m. when a man in the backseat of a red four-door pickup truck grabbed the back of her sweatshirt and forced her into the truck, restraining her and threatening her with a small knife.

The teen told police that she was ultimately shoved out of the truck unharmed near the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Eastport Manor Road after she repeatedly refused to comply with the demands. The men sped off in the pickup south on Chapman Boulevard.

Police described the man in the backseat as white and in his late 20s to early 30s with short dark hair and a slim build. The driver was described as dark haired and wearing a long-sleeved black shirt. The victim did not know her abductors, police said.

Suffolk County Police Detective Lieutenant Gail Marrero, commanding officer of the 7th Squad, in an effort to protect the privacy of the victim, declined to say where the teen lives or attends school, other than to describe her as “a local teen.”

“She lives in the area,” Det. Lt. Marrero said. “I’m trying to protect her as best as I can.”

Det. Lt. Marrero also said police have been in contact with the Eastport South Manor School District and has advised officials to remain alert.

Superintendent of Schools Mark Nocero said the district notified parents of the incident using an automated phone message system and sent e-mails to parents describing the incident at noon on Tuesday. A copy of the letter was also posted on the district’s website, esmonline.org. In addition, he said students were sent home with a letter detailing the alleged abduction.

“Our students are regularly taught to be on guard for suspicious behavior, unwarranted or unsolicited contact, and we review safety procedures for situations in which a supervising adult may not be present,” the letter reads. “We ask you to reinforce with your children the critical importance of taking proactive measures to ensure their safety.”

Mr. Nocero declined to say whether the teen was enrolled in the Eastport South Manor High School.

“I’ve been in contact with the Suffolk County Police Department and they are contacting me with developments in the case, and I will continue to keep the community informed about this sort of incident,” Mr. Nocero said.

Suffolk County Police 7th Squad detectives are investigating the case and urge anyone with information to contact the department at 852-8752, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
