Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter-guitarist Susan Tedeschi will perform her unique blend of blues, rock, folk and soul at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 6, at 8 p.m.
After four Grammy Award nominations, collaborations with Willie Nelson, Toots & The Maytals, husband Derek Trucks and many others, Ms. Tedeschi is known for belting out soulful blues backed by her already legendary guitar playing.
Growing up outside of Boston, Ms. Tedeschi was already singing with local Massachusetts bands by the age of 13. She pursued her passion at Berklee College of Music and established herself as one of New England’s top-drawing live acts. After releasing her debut album, “Better Days,” she scored an impressive commercial breakthrough with her sophomore effort, “Just Won’t Burn,” which became a massive grassroots success based on word of mouth alone.
“Just Won’t Burn” went gold and won Ms. Tedeschi a Grammy Award nomination for best new artist, alongside such unlikely company as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray and Kid Rock. She was also nominated for a Grammy Award for best female rock performance. Her next release, 2002’s acclaimed “Wait for Me” was nominated for a Grammy Award for best contemporary blues album. Her fourth album, “Hope and Desire,” marked a substantial departure, presenting the artist in the role of interpretive vocalist.
Ms. Tedeschi’s most recent album, “Back to the River,” which showcases her talents as an expressive singer, a melodic guitarist and a distinctive songwriter, has been called a more “mature, soulful work” that demonstrates how much she has grown in the decade since she burst onto the scene.
Earlier this year, Ms. Tedeschi performed “Talking About,” a rocking track from her acclaimed new album on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” Shortly after that she and her husband, Derek Trucks, performed at the Southern Ball in Washington, D.C., one of the official events of the 2009 presidential inaugural celebration.
Susan Tedeschi will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 6, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $55, $70 or $85, available by calling the Arts Center box office at 288-1500, stopping by the PAC at 76 Main Street, or visiting www.whbpac.org.
