Arrests

Police stopped Kathryn Petrone, 22, of Sag Harbor on Wednesday at 1:10 
a.m. at Route 114 and Goodfriend 
Drive in East Hampton and charged her with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they stopped Ms. Petrone for speeding and she failed sobriety tests. Ms. Petrone was released on her own recognizance.

Samuel Piro, 22, of Sag Harbor was arrested on Saturday at 1:14 a.m. at Route 114 and Deer Path in Wainscott and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Mr. Piro was stopped for driving 95 mph in a 45-mph speed zone and swerving over the double yellow line, and then failed sobriety tests. Mr. Piro was released on his own recognizance, police said.

Incidents

Police said that two iPods were stolen from locked gym lockers on October 7 at an establishment on Long Lane in East Hampton. A Montauk man reported a stolen iPod touch, worth $400, and an East Hampton man reported a stolen iPod touch, worth $400. Police said there are no suspects at this time.

A Wainscott woman reported on October 10 that her Sayers Path residence had been burglarized between September 7 and October 9 while she was in her main residence in New York City. Police said that two flat screen TVs and a DVD/Blu-Ray player, all of unknown value, were stolen. The woman told police that she leaves a house key under the doormat for service people. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.

An East Hampton man was taken to the hospital on October 11 at 11:07 a.m. after driving his motorcycle off the road on Soak Hides Road in East Hampton. Police said the motorcycle fell onto its side and the man was found unconscious by a witness. The man regained consciousness and was taken to Stony Brook Hospital, police said.

An East Hampton man reported that between October 11 and 18 a GPS, worth $500, was stolen from his trailer at Clear Water Beach Marina in East Hampton.

Police said a St. James man reported on October 13 that between September 18 and October 13 an outboard motor, worth $1,535, and a gas tank, worth $50, were stolen from his dinghy, which was moored at East Hampton Point Marina on Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton. Police said there is no surveillance at the marina and that the manager reported that no unusual activity had occurred.

An East Hampton woman, 51, reported to police that on October 13 at 12:30 a.m. she heard an unknown male voice in her home and walked downstairs to find a man wearing a red bandana kneeling on her son’s chest and choking him with both his hands. She reported that another man wearing a green bandana pushed her into the wall, police said. Police said the door to the house had been unlocked and the men were not known to anyone in the family.

A Southampton man, 16, reported that on October 13 he arrived at a soccer game at the Ross School on Goodfriend Drive in East Hampton and was told by his coach to take out a pair of diamond stud earrings, worth $1,000, that he was wearing. He told police the earrings belonged to his mother. He told police that he attached the earrings to his shoelace and placed the sneakers under the bench where his coach was sitting. At the end of the game, he said he went back for his shoes and the earrings were missing. Police said the principal of the school and the coach held a meeting the next day with all the players and checked the field with negative results.

An East Hampton man, 33, reported that a 12-foot surfboard, worth $2,000, was stolen from his Lynda Court residence between October 13 at 10 p.m. and Wednesday at 1 p.m. Police said the man requested additional patrols in the area.

An East Hampton man reported to police on Wednesday that he received a $20,000 check from someone on September 21 and that the check was returned on September 23 for insufficient funds. The man told police that he called the bank and there had not been any attempt to add money to the account to cover the check. Police said the man did not want to press charges at the time.

Police reported that on October 14 two men approached an officer on patrol at the Montauk train station to report that a man in a truck had spun out of the parking lot where the two had been on West Lake Drive in Montauk and rocks had flown up from under the wheels and broke the passenger window of the other man’s vehicle. The driver of the truck agreed to pay for the damage, police said.

An East Hampton woman reported that on October 16 a Canon Rebel camera, worth $400, and its accessories, worth $350, were stolen from her residence on Harrison Avenue. Police said the door had been left unlocked and there was no sign of forced entry.

The caretaker of an Amagansett home reported to police that between Thursday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. someone stole a flat screen TV, worth $1,000, from his employer’s screened-in porch, which was unlocked. Police said the table the TV had been on was turned over and that the cables that had been connected to the TV, cable box and DVD player were left on the floor. Police said the owner had been notified and was making a list of all persons that had been working at the house during the week.
