Arrests
Police stopped Linda Putnoy, 49, of Montauk on Sunday at 12:03 a.m. at Route 27 and Lincoln Road in Montauk and arrested her for DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Ms. Putnoy ran off the road on Route 27 and upon their arrival she refused sobriety tests. Police said she also refused to provide a breath sample three times after being taken to headquarters. Bail was set at $200.
Alex Brown, 45, of East Hampton was arrested on Saturday at 1:25 a.m. at Underwood Drive and Dorset Road in East Hampton and charged with DWI and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors. Police said they were responding to a report of a vehicle parked in the intersection for 15 minutes and upon arrival found Mr. Brown sleeping in the driver’s seat and the vehicle was running. Police said Mr. Brown failed sobriety tests and bail was set at $200.
Police stopped a Montauk man, 24, on October 20 at 9 p.m. at Soundview Drive and Captain Kidds Path in Montauk and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police said they approached the man’s parked car and noticed an odor of marijuana. The man was released on his own recognizance.
Luis Ordonez, 33, of East Hampton was arrested on Monday at 12:28 a.m. at Boxwood and Cedar streets in East Hampton and charged with disorderly conduct, a violation, for using obscene language. Police said Mr. Ordonez’ vehicle was parked in the opposite lane of traffic, facing the opposite direction of traffic, with the ignition off and Mr. Ordonez was found outside the vehicle. Police said Mr. Ordonez appeared intoxicated and was acting belligerent to officers when they moved his car off the roadway and attempted to help Mr. Ordonez into his residence. Police said he became agitated and refused to comply while yelling obscenities at the police. Bail was set at $100.
Incidents
A board member for the Ocean Vista Hotel in Amagansett told police that between September 21 and October 15 the board discovered several unauthorized charges to the hotel bank account with the Suffolk County National Bank that came to $7,956.61. The board has filed a fraud alert with the bank and as a result, police said, the bank has completed its own investigation and determined the transactions to be illegal, and reimbursed the total amount to the hotel.
An East Hampton man, 24, reported that while he was out of town between October 1 and Saturday someone stole three tree stands, worth $400, from the woods off Two Holes of Water Road in East Hampton. Police said that the man said he had been told to stay out of the woods for two weeks after he was issued tickets by the Department of Environmental Conservation and when he returned the tree stands were gone.
A New York City woman, 35, reported that between October 3 and October 4 at Jonathan Lane in East Hampton, where she was staying for the weekend, a pair of diamond earrings, worth $3,200, and $62 in cash, were stolen from her bedroom. Police said the woman was unsure if the residence had been locked when she went out and that the case has been turned over to detectives.
A Wainscott woman, 57, reported to police that she suspects someone took a bag containing an antique gold ring with a ruby and diamonds and a gold ring with a sapphire and two diamonds, worth $6,600 total, from her home sometime between October 7 and October 10. She said that on October 7 she had a technician from Cablevision at her home who saw her move the bag containing the jewelry from her desk area, where he was working, to a closet in the nearby bathroom, police said. The woman reported that she had contacted Cablevision and the company said to notify police.
An Amagansett man, 43, told police that 20 surveyor stakes, worth $400, were stolen from Stony Hill Road in Amagansett between October 16 and October 19. Police said the stakes have been stolen before and the man believes it is being done by someone who opposes a house being built on the property.
A Montauk man, 48, said that an unknown man entered his residence through an unlocked front door on October 18 at 2:10 a.m. and then walked out when the homeowner asked the man if he could help him and the man said, ‘No.’ Police said they searched the area but did not find anyone matching the man’s description.
A Montauk man, 41, reported that on October 15 an unknown person tried to use a crowbar to break into his garage, which is attached to the house. The man told police that he left his house at about 4:45 p.m. and around 5 p.m. received a call from his alarm company that the garage alarm was activated. The man also reported to police that he had noticed suspicious activity at a vacant house across the street including people entering and exiting the house through an open window.
Four people reported that between October 14 and October 21, three cell phones, a Sony Ericsson phone, worth $60; and two Blackberry Curves, each worth $360; an iPod Nano, worth $150; and $100 in cash were stolen from East Hampton High School. The cell phones and cash had been taken from locked gym lockers and the iPod was taken from next to a computer, where it had been charging, police said. There are no suspects in any of the incidents at this time.
