Arrests
Police arrested Kenneth Freeman, 64, of East Hampton on October 26 at 10:35 a.m. at Gerard Drive and Old Fireplace Road in Springs and charged him with DWI and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors. Police said they responded to a call about a possible drunk driver in a red pickup truck on Gerard Drive and stopped the vehicle. Mr. Freeman failed sobriety tests, they said. He was released on his own recognizance.
Manuel Chuqui-Alvares, 24, of East Hampton was arrested on October 31 at 9:14 p.m. at Springs Fireplace Road and Fort Pond Boulevard in Springs and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Mr. Chuqui-Alvares was driving south on Springs Fireplace Road when he swerved and swiped the side of a car driving north, causing damage to both vehicles. Police said when they arrived at the accident, they administered sobriety tests on Mr. Chuqui-Alvares and he failed all of them. Bail was set at $1,000.
Police stopped Kasey Miller, 25, of Montauk on October 26 at 3:45 p.m. at Route 27 and Second House Road in Montauk and charged her with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, both misdemeanors. Police said they stopped Ms. Miller because she was driving without a license plate on the front of her car and a DMV check showed her license had been suspended. Further investigation showed that a substance found at the scene, belonging to Ms. Miller, was an amphetamine tablet, police said. Bail was set at $100.
Police arrested Rima Abromaviciene, 38, of Montauk on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Second House Road in Montauk and charged her with burglary in the third degree and criminal mischief in the third degree, both felonies. Police said they responded to a report that someone had broken into the bar at an establishment on Second House Road and video surveillance confirmed that it had been Ms. Abromaviciene. Police said they found her in a nearby apartment and she was in possession of the two items that had been stolen from the bar, a bottle of Chivas and a bottle of Jim Beam, worth $100. Ms. Abromaviciene had also broken the side door’s window to exit the bar, police said. Bail was set at $500.
Danny Blandon, 25, of Springs was arrested on Friday at 1:39 a.m. at Hollyoak Avenue and Church Lane in Springs and charged with possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony. Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance call on Thursday night and Mr. Blandon’s common-law wife reported that Mr. Blandon had slapped her and left the residence. The woman did not want Mr. Blandon arrested, police said, and they told her to call police again if Mr. Blandon returned to the house. Police returned to the house early Friday morning because the woman reported that Mr. Blandon had returned and was knocking on the door. When police arrived they said Mr. Blandon gave them a forged United States permanent resident card. Bail was set at $100.
Police arrested Juan Yepes, 25, of Amagansett on Friday at 10:25 p.m. at Cedar Drive and Hog Creek Road in Springs and charged him with aggravated harassment in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors. Police said they responded to a call at the residence of Mr. Yepes’ ex-girlfriend, where she told police that Mr. Yepes had made more than 30 threatening phone calls to her and showed up at her house. She said that Mr. Yepes told her to come outside or he would break down the door and when she did he took her cell phone and threw it against a tree, breaking it. When the woman went back inside the house, Mr. Yepes then called her current boyfriend’s cell phone and threatened to kill the woman, police said. Bail was set at $200.
Incidents
Police said a North Haven woman, 53, reported that between October 24 and October 26 her 2006 White Isuzu truck, worth $25,000, had been stolen from her Wainscott place of employment, where she had left it with the keys in the glove compartment.
An East Hampton woman told police that between October 25 and October 28 she received three phone calls from a man who identified himself as a UPS supervisor attempting to arrange delivery for $3.5 million and a new car. The woman told police that after several calls, the man became frustrated with her and cursed at her. Police said the woman believes someone obtained her contact information from an old UPS shipping label. She said the caller has an accent and she believes he is calling from Jamaica, police said.
A Wainscott woman, 62, reported that on October 25 she received an e-mail at her Hotmail account asking her for personal information for the account. The woman said she responded with the information requested and that the next day she received several phone calls from family and friends to tell her they had received an e-mail from her Hotmail account requesting $1,500 and stating that she was stranded in London, police said. Police said the woman then found she was unable to log into her e-mail account and she has contacted Hotmail to report the issue.
