Hello there, Flanders. Did you all enjoy those fabulous few days of Indian summer? I know my family and I sure did, and we took the opportunity to get plenty of things done around the house.

What a great few days to be outside. I saw so many neighbors outdoors and walking with their children, some with their dogs, too. It felt like spring again. Unfortunately, like all good things, this too will end and we will be once again bracing for the chilly days of fall.

If you are looking for something to keep you occupied indoors this weekend, you can catch Flanders native Glenn Abramowitz in the Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater’s production of “Mame,” which will be put on at the Riverhead High School auditorium. You can catch the show at 8 p.m. this Saturday, November 14, or at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 15. If this weekend does not work, you will get two more chances the following weekend. Performances will also be given at 8 p.m. on both Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21.

Tickets are $12 if purchased in advance or $15 at the door. Students 17 and under can obtain a ticket for only $5. For ticket information or directions, call 722-3747 or visit rfct.org. As always, all proceeds from this production will go to a scholarship fund that benefits local students who wish to pursue a career in the arts.

Additionally, the group is working with local restaurants to offer a few theater dinner specials. If you show your ticket or ticket stub to your server on the day of a performance, you will receive a free glass of wine or a free beverage at the Athens Grill, a 10 percent discount off your bill at Diggers, or a specially priced dinner and a complimentary glass of wine at the Farm Country Kitchen. Sounds like this will be a great night out, and you don’t have to travel all the way to the city for dinner and a show!

Happy belated birthday to Erin Konkel who celebrated her 15th birthday on Friday, November 6. Erin had a very busy weekend full of fun and shared cake with her family on Saturday in celebration. Hope you had a great day and we wish you many more wonderful birthdays to come.

Rebecca Merker will blow out 14 candles on Tuesday, November 17. She plans on celebrating her big day with family and friends, not to mention with lots of love and cake, too. Mom and Dad want you to have the greatest day ever and the Rocco family wishes you a very happy birthday, too. Enjoy your day.

Bideawee will host its annual “Photos with Santa Day” for kids and pets on Saturday, December 5, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., at its Westhampton location at 118 Old Country Road. Friends and family are welcome to sit on Santa’s lap for a holiday photo with their pet. Guests can also enjoy hot chocolate, special treats and share in the holiday spirit. Arts and crafts will be available, so kids can create their own creative holiday ornaments and gifts.

There will be a $10 per photo donation to help support the program. For more information, call 325-0200, ext 118.

That is all I have for this week. Perhaps you are all too busy serving up some triple berry cheesecake or maintaining your farms to e-mail me. Maybe next time you are waiting to serve something while playing Cafe World or harvesting some cotton with Farmville, you could just shoot me an e-mail? Let me know what is happening around town, so I can share the information with your neighbors.

For those of you wondering what Cafe World and Farmville are, you are probably better off not knowing for they are both extremely addicting games on Facebook. You are able to open and maintain your own cafe and farm. Necessary? No. Fun and addicting? Yes!

Have a great week, everyone. I have to run as I have 615 servings of French onion soup to dish out.
