A Bridgehampton man was arrested on Saturday morning after trying to fend off police with a trio of pit bulls at his residence.

Southampton Town Police said that when they tried to pull over Kevin Street, 45, of Bridgehampton for speeding on Sag Harbor Turnpike on November 7 at about 11:50 a.m., he pulled up to his nearby home and ran behind his three large pit bulls on his porch to prevent police from approaching him and ticketing him. Mr. Street repeatedly told police that he wouldn’t give up, according to his arrest report.

A passenger in Mr. Street’s vehicle, Kristen Morgan, 26, of East Hampton, was escorted away from the scene.

The standoff lasted about 20 minutes before police talked Mr. Street off the porch and arrested him, police said. Mr. Street was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, as well as a speeding violation. Mr. Street also had an outstanding warrant for petit larceny, also a misdemeanor. Ms. Morgan was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.
