Today is Karen Golden’s birthday, and she really deserves to enjoy it.
Today is also the first day of parent-teacher conferences at the Amagansett School. The November PTA meeting was rescheduled for December, so stay tuned for the date.
Tuesday, November 24, is the Turkey Feast and box top drawing. Box tops are five cent coupons that can be found on many of our favorite grocery items. By clipping these coupons and sending them in to your child’s classroom, you can help raise money for our school. To make it fun, the PTA has turned it into a contest, so get your coupons in by Tuesday, November 24. You can raise even more money for our school by shopping online through the box top website. For more information, check out the flyer in your child’s backpack. Make sure you check out your favorite Pilgrim or Indian wiggle and wobble at the feast and then school will be on recess until November 30.
The 11th annual Weekend Warrior Tour of the Shore Race was rescheduled until this Saturday, November 21. Check it out at weekendwarriortours.com for more information.

Amagansett School’s Student Council is sponsoring an ongoing food drive for the remainder of the school year. Donations for the Amagansett Food Pantry can be left in boxes outside your child’s classroom. Remember this is Hunger Awareness Week, so let’s do what we can.
The Amagansett satellite of the East Hampton Food Pantry is now open every Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. in Scoville Hall on Meeting House Lane. Anyone in dire need of food is welcome. Adults need to show proof of address and children need a copy of their birth certificate to register. At the opening night of the food pantry on November 10 more than 100 individuals were served. Local farmers also donated fresh vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli. Clients received a bag of groceries as well as cheese, bread, eggs and potatoes.
Those attending worship at the First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett are asked to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the food pantry.
The Reverend Steven E. Howarth will give a sermon entitled “Through the Liturgical Year in an Hour,” a celebration of the life of Christ as commemorated through the liturgical year. The service will begin with Advent readings and hymns and then proceed through Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost and Christ the King Sunday. This worship service will take place on Sunday, November 22, at 11 a.m.
On Thanksgiving Day at the First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett there will be an informal half hour service of reflection and prayers at 8:30 a.m. and a continental breakfast will follow.
The Christmas Craft Sale and Deacons’ Silver Tea will be held on Saturday, November 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Scoville Hall. This is a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping for some real treats. Choose from Christmas decorations, handmade items, Rada stainless steel cutlery, baked goods and nearly new jewelry (proceeds from the sale of jewelry and the church cookbook go to the church). The deacons will have dessert and tea sandwiches available for purchase throughout the day. Raffle tickets will also be sold for a Christmas table decoration donated by Wittendale’s.
St. Michael’s Lutheran Church holds it services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. The church is located across the street from the post office and all are welcome to attend.
The weather has been beautiful or horrendous, all or nothing. My daughter Lucy Pearl and I have been spending most of our free time on the beautiful days ripping on her Ripstick at the youth park. What a great place for young and old alike. Check it out. There are tennis courts, ramps for your boards, a playground and great staff working there, too. They also offer ongoing programs there as well.
Have a great week and please send me any Amagansett news you would like to share.
