The whirlwind that is November is halfway over. So let’s not waste any time this week and get right down to the good stuff. The village is brimming over with opportunities for you and your family to shop, eat, laugh, relax and even do a little good for the community.
What timing! Bideawee’s 2010 “For the Love of Pets” calendar is now available for purchase. This full-color calendar costs $25, plus shipping, and features winners of the annual Bideawee pet photo contest. All proceeds benefit the animal shelter and adoption center. Speaking of our furry friends, the Westhampton Rotary Club had quite a unique meeting earlier this month. Rescue Ink, a group of self-defined “motorcycle-riding tough guys” who fight animal cruelty and strive to educate animal abusers, met with Rotarians and shared their stories of defending animals on their show of the same name, which airs on the National Geographic Channel on Fridays at 10 p.m. Very, very cool.
Finn’s on Old Riverhead Road in Westhampton Beach will keep your belly full and your toes tapping with live music every Friday, from 9:30 p.m. until closing. Friday night bands alternate weekly between the Big Blue Whales and the rhythm and blues band, One Mo’ Time. For additional information, call 998-3281 or e-mail marciagrosen@gmail.com.
And for the kids, the Westhampton Free Library on Library Avenue in Westhampton Beach will continue to offer fun, interactive programs such as the Anime/Manga Club, which meets this Thursday, November 19, at 5 p.m.
Additionally, a Teen Action Movie Double Header night will be offered on Saturday, November 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will be treated to “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and “Star Trek” back-to-back.
And lastly, the Taste Test Challenge is back and all children and teens are invited to join a panel of tasters to evaluate a wide variety of mystery foods and beverages.

Don’t forget that the Westhampton Beach High School PTO will host its fifth annual Holiday Fair on Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Westhampton Beach High School gymnasium on Lilac Road. All proceeds will help support the many programs offered to our students. There will be a Chinese and silent auction. Admission is free. A limited number of booths are still available for vendors. Spur the economy and sate your appetite at a Holiday Boutique and Quiche Luncheon on Saturday, November 21, starting at noon, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Westhampton Beach. For additional information, call 288-2111 or visit stmarkswhb.net.
A special Thanksgiving Prayer Service will be given by the Greater Hampton’s Clergy Council on Sunday, November 22, at 7 p.m., at the Westhampton United Methodist Church on Montauk Highway. All are welcome.
Snag your ticket now. The Westhampton Beach High School class of 1999 will hold its 10-year reunion on Friday, November 27, at Rock Hill Country Club on Clancy Road in Manorville. Hors d’oeuvres will be served, and a buffet and open bar will be available from 7:30 until 11:30 p.m. There will also be a deejay and dancing.

Calling all families! A “Great Mummy Adventure: The Paper Bag Players” come to the stage on Friday, November 27, at 3 p.m., at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Main Street. The show will feature sing-alongs, dancing, picnics, pyramids and, of course, a mysterious mummy. Tickets range in price from $15 to $25 and are available at the box office, by phone at 288-1500 or online at whbpac.org.
And the Knights of Columbus, Joseph Slomski Council’s annual Christmas Wreath Sale begins on Saturday, November 28, and Sunday, November 29, immediately following mass at the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Quiogue. Wreaths are $20 each or $35 for two, $50 for three or $65 for four. Wreaths will also be sold following mass every Saturday and Sunday in December. Home delivery is also available.
