A Flanders man was arrested Thursday and accused of assaulting a man who owed him money for a drug deal, according to New York State Police.
Mohammed Proctor, 32, was charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, after the other man told police that Mr. Proctor hit him on November 4.
The victim reported the assault on November 5 and said he had been approached on Riverleigh Avenue by Mr. Proctor, who asked him for money that was owed for a previous drug sale. When he refused to give Mr. Proctor money—because, he said, the “drugs” turned out to be baking soda—Mr. Proctor punched him in the face three or four times causing bruising and swelling, police said.
The victim was able to run away and Mr. Proctor fled the scene as well, according to police.
No other information was available.
