AIA Peconic, the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects, recently held its annual meeting and the membership elected a new president and vice president for 2010.

Anne R. Surchin, AIA, of Southold was elected president. Ms. Surchin works on the North and South forks and is the architecture columnist for The Press. Marjorie Goldberg, AIA, of Bridgehampton, was elected vice president.

Also at the meeting, Treasurer Michael Brown, AIA, of Pospisil & Brown Architects in Southampton, was elected to a second term in office as was Secretary Bruce A.T. Siska, AIA, of East Hampton. Richard Stott, AIA, will be the group’s representative to the New York State AIA.

“This is a wonderful representation from several of our East End communities and we are looking forward to their leadership during this new year,” Peconic AIA Executive Director Kay Jones, AIA, said this week. “Current President William Sclight, AIA, from Water Mill will remain an active member of this new board, acting as immediate past president.”

The meeting took place at Blue Sky in Sag Harbor on Thursday, November 12, and was sponsored by Super Enterprises. During the meeting, Bob Barbone, the architectural consultant for Super Enterprises, made an informative presentation, “Beyond Repair: Historic Window Replacement,” and members in attendance received one continuing education credit for sitting in. Also on the program was a presentation by Dominick G. Kasmauskas, New York regional manager for the National Fire Safety Association, on the concerns of the fire sprinkler industry. Members in attendance received one continuing education credit for that.
