Arrests
Police arrested Curtis Blow, 45, of Mastic on November 10 at 8:20 p.m. at Three Mile Harbor and Tub Oarsman roads in East Hampton and charged him with DWI and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors; and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony. Police said they observed Mr. Blow driving 89 miles per hour in a 40-miles-per-hour zone and when they attempted to pull him over he continued driving, crossed into the shoulder and onto the sidewalk, then drove back into the roadway to make a left turn without signaling, before stopping. Police said he failed sobriety tests and revealed during an interview that he had collided with a tree before police spotted him. A check of his driver’s license showed that his driving privileges had been revoked for DWI, refusal to take a breath test and failure to respond to four separate summonses, police said. Mr. Blow was released on his own recognizance.
Karen Bennett, 30, of East Hampton was arrested on Friday at 2:15 a.m. at Three Mile Harbor Road and Oakview Highway in East Hampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said they saw Ms. Bennett cross over double yellow lines while driving on Three Mile Harbor Road and then again after she turned onto Oakview Highway. Police said she failed sobriety tests and was released on her own recognizance.
Police arrested a minor on Saturday at 10:50 p.m. on Montauk Highway in Montauk and charged him with DWI and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors. Police said the defendant was driving west on Montauk Highway at 73 miles per hour in a 55-miles-per-hour zone and that while police were following the car, the defendant crossed the double yellow line and drove in the eastbound lane. Police said the defendant failed sobriety tests and bail was set at $350.
Mark Summer, 50, of East Hampton was arrested on Friday at 12:06 p.m. at Southampton Hospital on an arrest warrant for DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. Bail was set at $3,000.
Police arrested an East Hampton minor on November 9 at 8:48 p.m. in East Hampton and charged him with menacing in the third degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors. Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance reported by a woman who said her sons were fighting in her home over missing items and she was unable to stop the fight. She told police that the boys became so enraged that one took a metal wrench and attempted to attack the other with it. The youth being attacked left the house, and when his brother attempted to follow him, the mother told police she tried to stop him, and he then also threatened her with the wrench. Police said both boys were apprehended a short time later and the one with the wrench was arrested and later released on his own recognizance.
Alejandro Fernandez, 28, of East Hampton was arrested on November 10 at 2 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Wainscott and charged with menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor; and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, burglary in the first degree, two counts of criminal contempt in the first degree, and criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. Police said they interviewed the ex-girlfriend of Mr. Fernandez at headquarters, where she told them she has an order of protection against him but gave him permission to enter her home to remove his belongings at a designated date when she would not be home. The woman said she left the house but stayed nearby to observe. She told police Mr. Fernandez entered the home at the expected time but never left and began to call her cell phone. The woman said she confronted him in the home, and Mr. Fernandez left after a verbal and physical fight. The woman reported that Mr. Fernandez returned later that night, entered unlawfully and threatened the woman with a knife to her throat. Police said they also found a stolen debit card on Mr. Fernandez when he was arrested. He was taken to Suffolk County Jail, where he remains on $25,000 cash bail or a $50,000 bond.
Police arrested Julia Martin, 43, of East Hampton on November 11 at 4:52 p.m. at Morris Park Lane and West Drive in East Hampton and charged her with criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony; and harassment in the second degree, a violation. Police said they responded to a disturbance call on Morris Park Lane where both Ms. Martin and her nephew live. Ms. Martin’s nephew told police he was accosted by his aunt, which violated an East Hampton Town Court order of protection issued against her, police said. Bail was set at $300.
Police arrested an East Hampton minor on Saturday around 12 p.m. in East Hampton and charged him with criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony; and menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, both misdemeanors. Police said when they responded to the residence, the complainant said he had an order of protection against his brother, the defendant. Police said that after a verbal argument between the two, the defendant intentionally flipped open a knife and made lunging motions toward the complainant. The defendant was released on his own recognizance.
