Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I can think of no better way to give thanks than by donating a nonperishable food item to the Springs Presbyterian Church Food Pantry. They give out bags of food every Wednesday between 5 and 6 p.m. You can drop off donations any time. If no one is at the church, just leave it by the side door. Have a happy and healthy holiday.

Santa Claus will be receiving visitors at the Springs Firehouse on Sunday, December 6, from 7 to 11 a.m. Santa is an early riser. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Also on that Sunday, the Springs Improvement Society will host the 14th annual Lights of Love scholarship fund-raiser. It starts at 5 p.m., and there will be hot chocolate, cookies and general holiday merriment. For information on how to make a donation, call the Springs School at 324-0144.

Last week’s Springs Advisory Committee meeting consisted mostly of library issues. The general consensus being that Springs is underserved by the East Hampton Library. They formed a committee and will come up with recommendations to better serve the community such as expanding the present library or possibly building a satellite on school grounds.

Springs musicians Jane Hastay and hubby Peter Weiss will be performing an Autumn Serenade concert this Friday, at 8 p.m., at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Montauk, which is located at the corner of Essex and Main streets. Tickets are $25 and proceeds will benefit the Montauk Historical Society.

There will be a pre-owned sweater sale at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as well as used children’s toys. You can drop off donations of sweaters up until Friday.

The Springs General Store has slashed its book prices by 20 percent. The Surface Library is having it’s annual Gift of Art sale. You might find the perfect gift for that person who is so hard to shop for.
