Waxing poetic about Thanksgiving is just a tad passé. Personally, my cliché cornucopia is filled to capacity.
Still, we should all give thanks and be truly grateful for the small blessings we have both given and received. For those of us with good health, shelter, food, family and something in short supply these days—a job—take a moment and be grateful for all the small and large fortunes in your life. Happy Thanksgiving!
Kudos to the members of Westhampton Beach High School Key Club. They spent two weeks last month making care packages for servicemen and servicewomen in our area as part of Operation Shoebox, a program that collects letters, donations and care packages for military members. Students collected about $142 and more than 3,000 items! High school librarian Patty Merendino, whose son is enlisted, helped coordinate and she will even pay for the shipping of the items. Good job.
